A bottle will last you 100 years,I decanter it into those 35 mm film cassette containers for convenience, the most versatile and useful product available to modellers.

Seafire conversion is not as east as seems you need mark 9 nose and universal wing so i would avoid mate

Probably the initial idea was that everyone built the same kit but obviously people will also be buying assorted accessories such as resin detail and PE sets so it is only a case of how far do you want to take it.

If you are lucky enough to come across such a conversion then why not give it a go and we can all see what you make of it.

The real interest for me though will be in how everyone does the same thing to the same model. Things like how does a painted kit stack up against a sprayed one and how do weathering techniques work on the same model. How do differrent paint manufacturers finishes compare and what supplier has the most authentic colours. That sort of stuff will be more interesting to us all but if you want to enhance yours give it a go.

I saw an interesting site earlier that had PE accesories for the Tamiya Spit but they were actually pre painted.

It got me to thinking that, whilst the parts looked stunning and would make any model look amazing would the contributors to this forum consider them as enabling you to enhance a model in a way that you would not have been able to achieve otherwise or are they cheating and you may as well buy a die cast model.

I would be interested in peoples thoughts.

Richard, i was looking through those links you posted! A couple of questions...

What on earth is going on with these:

Squadron offers scale model kits made of plastic, resin and more. Categories include aircraft, armor, ships, sci-fi, cars, tools, paint, books and more! Everything needed for your hobby modeling room!

Coloured echted parts seem like a good idea but the instrument pannel is blue?

Cant seem to find anything in resin either which is annoying, do you have any ideas?

I don't know if it is actually blue or whether that is the colour rendition of the picture. Who would be brave enough to find out?!!

I would love to see a proper clear close up of the set though.

There doesn't seem to be as much resin for the Spit as there does for others but I have seen some. I'll have another look later but time for a shower and get ready for work now!

Its strange isnt it, theres another set which looks the same but isnt coloured so i might go for that, the yellow of the belts looks a bit iffy as well!

Yeah i have found resin flaps, but its the cockpit i wanted really...

They look like Josephs coat of many colours ! no Spit ever had a blue instrument panel thats for sure, fanciful colouring on those Squiffy.

Is it me or does the pilot in the Tamiya kit look like an extra from the Hunchback of notre dame

I've painted him but still don't like him so my spit is going to be grounded because it doesn't have a pilot

Is the pilot that important? After all its the aircraft that people will look at, not the pilot. I dont put any aircrew in my models as i like to see the whole of the cockpit detail.

I think that putting people in static models spoils the appearance somewhat
