Hello Chaps,

As Colin has kicked his Hurricane Anniversary build off I thought I’d better post mine up. Shame we couldn’t get a GB going but quite understandable I suppose as we have had a recent Hurricane GB.

I’ve chosen the little brother to Colin’s build so should be a bit less to do.

I’m going to do it as primarily an out of the box build as I quite like the scheme included, I’ll probably add some seat belts.

Another update soon, thanks for looking 👍

Geoff.

A nice kit that one, it was the first one I did when I started up again - not sure it came out that well and the finished article never made the move, but a nice little kit, and I love that two-tone scheme underneath. Looking forward to this one.

Very nice Geoff. Great to have you along to mark this important event.

Cheers Colin, we couldn’t really leave such a significant anniversary unmarked could we 😊

Looks like a nice kit Geoff. I'm following....

Nick

Glad to have you along Nick 👍

Thanks Neil, I like the two tone underside too 🙂

Just pulled up my chair Geoff.

Thanks Ian, nice to have you watching along 👍

Hi chaps,

Ive been pushing on with this since my original post as I want to try and get it finished for the actual anniversary date and also to clear the decks ready for PaulTs 4x4 group build.

So for a change this one starts with the undercarriage bay which is built up from x5 parts joined to the lower wing.
It went together with no problems leaving a reasonably detailed undercarriage bay.
This was painted using a AK Aluminium marker pens before the wings were joined together.

Its was then onto the cockpit which included a decal for the instrument panel.

The parts were all cleaned up and painted, again using AK marker pens.
The seat had some Eduard seat belts added before it was put together and the two fuselage halves joined together.

Which leaves the fuselage and wings to be joined together.

So that’s the progress so far, hopefully another update soon.

Thanks for looking 👍

Looking good Geoff. I'm fairly sure you'll make the anniversary date at this speed of building.

Great idea Geoff. An anniversary worthy of note. Nice start. It will be interesting to compare your smaller Aifix kit with Colin's larger scale one.

Looking good Geoff. I have quite a soft spot for the Hurricane, a real workhorse

Thanks Joe 👍

Yes you’re right, a vital aircraft for the RAF during the early stages of WW2 and used in every theatre but overshadowed by the more glamorous Spitfire.

No update but I thought this may be of interest 😊

I went for a short break in the Windsor area a few weeks ago. I was very surprised to come across this in the riverside park in Windsor 😀

IMG_4813.jpg IMG_4814.jpg It’s a life size replica and is to honour the designer of the Hawker Hurricane, Sir Sidney Camm. He was born in Windsor and apparently cut his teeth as a youth designing and making flying model aircraft which he used to sell to the school boys of the very near Eton school 🙂

Hello chaps,

Well “best laid plans” and all that, despite my quick start I’ve had limited bench time since the last update so the build has slowed down and I obviously wasn’t able to complete it for the anniversary date 😔.

I’ve managed some better progress this week though and everything has been painted and I am ready to apply the transfers 😀

IMG_4937.jpg IMG_4938.jpg IMG_4939.jpg
Paints were all from the AK Real Colours range and good old Tamiya;

AK RC286 - RAF Dark Green
AK RC287 - RAF Dark Earth
AK RC222 - Insignia White
Tamiya XF85 - Rubber Black

Its also had a clear coat of Aclad Aqua Gloss.

I’m hoping to get the transfers on over the weekend so another update soon.

Thanks for looking 👍

Geoff.

Never mind the date Geoff. I thought I had plenty of time as well, but was a bit hard pushed at the end.
But anyway, it all looking good now.
