Done it, just in time. I actually thought it would be an easy finish, but you know how it is, just one more bit of detail here and there.
It's the Airfix 1:48 Mk 1 Hurricane, finished in water based acrylics this time (I didn't have the correct MRP on the shelf) Airfix decals, which behaved perfectly. Then my favourite bit, weathering. As a desert bird, it got a bit dusty. There are some nice pictures on line of some well weathered, sun bleached Hurricanes, the perfect excuse to hit the weathering hard.

It's a nice kit, well detailed, and if you can get a second hand kit like this, quite cheap.
So that's my little tribute to the 90th anniversary of the Hawker Hurricane's first flight, November 6th 1935.

Any questions, please shout out.

Simply gorgeous colin ! We all love a hurricane but the combination of a hurri , the desert scheme and a superb build brilliantly photographed really hits the mark. Love the well used look and the thoughtful touches like the dusty marks where the wheels would have thrown up sand , first class modelling . Cheers tony

That is a superb result. The finish is just perfect. A dusty, well used Hurricane. 90 years of history celebrated.

Thank you all for stopping by and commenting. If you fancy one of these Airfix 1:48 Hurricanes, go for it, it's a really nice kit.

Really like the black background on your pics, might have to give that a try at some point, currently just using white, but can get a bit of glare off it?

An aircraft in the desert, what an excuse to chuck a bit of dirt around.
Superb modelling.
Cheers Joe. It came out alright this one.

I enjoyed the finishing touches on this one. I eventually had to stop myself.
A fitting tribute to a legendary aircraft.
Cheers Geoff, thanks for joining in.

Peter, it's a 'photo both' type thing off Amazon. It comes with four LED lights and different back grounds.

Wow thats a great Hurricane. The colours and weathering are spot on.Ive never ever built a Hurricane.I did have the older 48th Hurricane but the plastic was of a kind more like Tupperware and couldnt cut it properly.
