This is coming on really well. You're certainly going the extra mile and it shows.
Cheers Jim, enjoying the build atm but I think I got the hardest bit to come, I'm dreading and looking forward to the rigging at the same time :)

First question John this won't make ropes it just a serving (wrapping) machine? I would need a rope walk to make ropes?
Brian

If you want to lay your own hawsers and cables then you would need a ropewalk. I have always found that ship modelling stores can supply ready made cable in most sizes. this is a short definition of cable making ( leaving aside the details of cable laid and rope laid) I hope this helps to illustrate the complications:

First, some definitions ... threads or Fibers are twisted to the right to form Yarn; three yarns are twisted to the left to make a Strand; three Strands twisted to the right make a Hawser (or rope); three Hawsers twisted to the left form a Cable ... and four strands twisted around a single central strand of yarn is a Shroud-laid Rope.

Good luck

Thank you John buying ready made ropes seems the way to go :) the shrouds supplied with the kit are pretty poor and very fuzzy/fluffy

My rigging book has proved invaluable as I had no idea where the knights head post went ( no sign of them on the plans) but the rigging book showed exactly where they went :)
No privacy in the heads :) no toilet seat either lol

I'm not sure about this but it looks to me like the pulley slots you have made in your cathead are not correctly aligned with the support bracket. These catheads support the cables for the anchor when it is "catted". in which case the supports are aligned with the pulley slots vertically. If I'm mistaken just ignore my witterings.

Hi Brain just spent 3 hours painting the canons try to to move on and start some stern Planking on the deck.

That's not the support bracket, that runs fwd to aft the support bracket is the one to the right which goes underneath
