I'm currently doing the panza Iv 1/16 , it has a lot of PE ,do you use a special primer for this , or will any one do , haven't really done too much PE , any help will be appreciated .

I use Mr Surfacer 1000 or sometimes I spray directly on. I only use primer if the adhesion properties are bad

Hi Steve,

I use this all the time, brush it with old paint brush and leave it for few days then I prime them with Mr. Surfacer.

I usually prime unpainted pe with halfords aerosol primer, i find that the top colour doesnt rub off as easily this way. If youre doing any bending then i would do this after priming but befire the final colour , cheers tony

Don't forget to rinse the PE thoroughly before applying anything.

As long as the PE is clean and free from grease and fingerprints, the primer you normally use will work fine.
If you want to go all in you can burnish the PE with either a chemical wash or glass fiber pencil. Bend it, dip it in cleaner, attach it then treat as plastic.
You can also get a liquid that turns brass brown. Then should the paint chip off, you just get a "rusty iron" look and not a nice bright shiny bit of brass in the middle of your nice painted and weathered tank!
