If you find that the wood is a bit to dry, a quick bath in warm water helps stop the planks splitting. Being so thin they often dry out so much they snap as soon as you try to bend them.My summer project arrived today
I’ve got the non-ambulance version, but am still waiting for a shop to send me the Voyager etched set I decided to buy for it about two months ago … Maybe I should send them an email.Landed today................ in 1/35.........
Brought these from the local craft store yesterday, thanks to Pete Low who gave me the idea:
Small and large filled with Micro Set and Sol, colour coded with some paint, have a ready to use set now at all times.:tongue-out3::smiling:
I’ve seen those boxes around, but never the insides. I presume, since it’s AFV Club, that this kit is lightyears ahead of the nice-but-1970s Tamiya effort that’s pretty much the standard for M113s in 1/35 scale? This came today.
First impressions are very good.
They worked as expected John, I always used two sized brushes for the decal work and these fit in nicely.:thumb2:Be interested to see what you think of the Fernando .
John .
Thanks Fernando, I saw these advertised only this week, and was interested in how they might work with washes , oil or acylic. Do you think the oil wash might be too strong for the tip ?They worked as expected John, I always used two sized brushes for the decal work and these fit in nicely.:thumb2:
Used it on a Toon’s ip decal last weekend and no leaks or any dissolving brushes due to the solvent in Micro Set and Sol.
As they are intended for water, I think they are great for fixing pigments and maybe if a pigment fixer is fluid enough it will work too.:rolling:
HTH.
Indeed. The webshop I got it from listed a couple of others as well, but I decided against getting them too — for nownice find, on the Wellesley - it makes you wonder how many more of the original Matchbox kits are lurking out there.
OK, I’ll see about building it myself then, one of theseAs for the Privateer, I'm tempted, but I'll resist, a large 1/72 plane won't really fit in with my collection - thanks for the offer!
Think the tip can handle any oil or acrylic wash, maybe have to thin it a bit since it has to go through the whole brush….Thanks Fernando, I saw these advertised only this week, and was interested in how they might work with washes , oil or acylic. Have you looked at Hataka HTK-A282 Dutch Demo Orange (light)? The F-16 I bought mainly because of the paint scheme — I don’t keep up with aircraft shows and demo planes, but this one just looked cool enough to build. All I need to do now, apparently, is find a rattle can of Ford No. 6SFE electric orange, and preferably one that doesn’t cost twice what the kit did.
