discussion Tamiya 1/35 Panzer 111.

Evening to you all .
A fine day here again so very little done model wise.
However I've managed to do the upper hull with out any problem.

Started the gun , that part was ok, but then came to this part.

Look easy enough, no being so small on the gluing points I had 3 attempts, the first 2 ending in those side pieces falling off. C8 and C9

So I glued one end on and left it up against a right-angled square.

This evening having cleaned the CA of the parts I tried again.


Left it sitting there on the bench.

The rest of the upper section .



Right that's it, any ideas on attempting that section with out it falling apart welcome.

Then I see this, that part C13 is optional ?





Any way this is what I have finished with.



That very small end plate fell off again C 8 or 9. In the end I just glued the whole assembly thing into the turret.
Very disheartening when this is classed as an easy kit. .

This is the joy of modelling sometimes the simplest things are sent to try us.

The only suggestion I can give you is that the spaced armour mount may be upside down. Also judging by your final aerial photo it isnt quite plumb. This maybe because you had, had enough and jammed it in as best as possible :smiling5:

Hi mate, that part is correct, I rechecked the drawing several times, I think the trouble lies with the part that kept falling apart .It's right behind that. It seems to fit only one way, but when the end fell off and was stuffed back on I believe that is the cause.
Once again the snow will cover my sins. :nerd:.

I've got Tamiya's 2008 released Panzer II in the cupboard, where it's stayed since I got totally confused reading the instructions and trying to decipher which parts went with which version, A,B.C or D. I think I'm going to have to resort to a highlighter and mark up the instructions before doing anything else.

Oh I know Chris, sometimes you have to do the most unbearable builds, I do these German thingies to keep Steve happy. He's already tried to get me to do some strange camo, that request fell upon deaf ears.:tongue-out3:

Hi Peter, at least the 111 had only two types on this build and that was an easy option. Once it gets like that one of yours the high lighter is the only way.
I don't find instructions easy to follow at the best of times, and often get things the wrong way. I blame it on being left handed !

No a Master of the Black Arts would have no truck with such a section of thin plastic with glue points the size of a newts eyelash .

Knowing that you as well are a lefty has lifted my spirits, :smiling2: but doesn't help with my some what block when it comes to some instruction sheets .
That part which has caused all the problems at the begining yet again fell off after being cleaned of all traces of CA and reglued. It will not do it again Simon !

My main gripe is with power tools, which are almost always designed for wrong handed people. The safety button on the trigger requires finger gymnastics to operate, the balance is all wrong on many with the motor hanging off the other side, and as for the face-full of sawdust! Strimmers too. I look like I'm wearing green Yeti boots after a session with one of those! :smiling5:

Your so right Andy, complete discrimination ! Every power tool is made with right handed people in mind, the worst for me being a chop or bench saw, I had to learn to be right handed to use it well.
When a friend taught me to plaster he said start with your right hand, learn to use it, because when you come to the left hand side of a wall you will be perfect and then you'll be able to change to the right for the opposite side.

Plastering, I'm useless with either hand lol. I can slap on a bit of browning but final skimming is one job I don't mind leaving to the pro's.

There are also some pictures to be found of knocked-out vehicles that lack the spaced armour plate, but those are suspect — chances are good that the plate got removed as a result of the vehicle being hit.
