Latest Acquisitions (2020)

Hi guys

a latest acquisition which is a bit different:

It is flexible holder for my IPad. What’s that got to do with modeling I hear you ask. Well, I’m fed up with using optivisors so I am trying out using the magnifying glass app on my IPad

So far I am quite pleased
Peter

a table bracker eh - think it lost something in translation :smiling5:

I tried a similar thing a few years back with a usb microscope but it was an utter failure

At least this appears to give a reasonably clear picture - rubbish colour rendering though so no use for painting under

Good morning gang.

A delivery this morning from China, good job the seller used some decent packaging.

It did have a plastic covering , you can see the crush marks.

Still the parts are ok.

Ready to start assembly soon.
oh lol, thats like how my boxes get to me,until they flatten the box ,with them inside so not get that much damage,
pr like me your postie or pacael guys just don,t care

Gadget Freaks..........One born every minute!:smiling: Keep us posted as to how it works for you Peter.

HI guys

Richard - i also have never found the head band type to be comfortable, possibly due to my wearing glasses.
Jakko - yes, good for holding references and it's also good for watching programmes off the Iplayer.
Neil - aren't all modellers plastic surgeons?
Simon - the colour in the photo is not representative, in reality the colours on the screen are spot on. I assume it is some reaction between the ipad screen and using my iphone for the photo. I don't -lan to use it much for painting, probably the only painting I do will use it for will probably be around the eyes.
Rick - yep, we all like a gadget, and I have far too many! Hopefully this one will be well used,

So as to not take up too much of this thread I will post details of how I get on with it on my WAAF thread.

Peter

A long story short, bought the He 219 from MBK for €180,95 delivered. 4 days later, an auction ran out in evilbay and I threw a bid down for €143,79 at the last 4 seconds (it stood at €92) and when the smoke cleared, I won it for €118 + 5,99 postage = €123,99. Sent my kit from MBK back for credit (refused delivery) and today the seller delivered! I'll be damned,

Upon going through the sprues, this popped out as a bonus,

The interior etch set in color. This sells for €23,95 itself. I felt like I had won the lottery as the whole shebang now was even cheaper!!!! Kit delivered for €100,04 and I can't stop dancing around the apartment. One last pic to show the details and thinking by Zoukei-Mura,

In the foam wrap is the included metal landing gear and to the left the pre-formed weight. It fits in the fuel tank below on the right. The fuel tank mounts right behind the cockpit so this puppy doesn't sit on it's butt. Man, I want to retire tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!.........

Prost
Allen, with a cold one in hand!!!

Evening

Was not going to buy this but, after all its a certain thingy

Wheels look better but not as good as Tamiya/dragon.

Looks more accurate than Tamiya's, but that cannot be that difficult!

These were listed on evil bay as WW2 Germany army trucks.....M.A.N. L 750. Come to find out, they aren't. They are German trucks but post war Bundeswehr. I bought 'em anyway. Turns out they are almost a carbon copy of the 4.5 Ton M.A.N. ML 4500 trucks used by the Wehrmacht between 1940 and 1945. With over 8000 produced by M.A.N. and under license in Austria (OAF). SCORE!! Can anybody guess what my next vehicle build will be? Rick H.P1011327.JPGP1011329.JPG

Postie just delivered this:
DSCF0827.JPG
I ordered this on Monday evening, and it was in my hands at !0:00 Wednesday. VERY good service from Kits For Sale Ltd - AND I got a surprise discount for being a repeat customer!
The model is down as pre-owned, but apart from scuffing around the edges, is as new, parts still bagged. Now I can add a real American Limousine to my line-up.

I was still having endless problems with my cheap compressor so went for the "go big or go home" option.

I've only had a quick play with it but I'm impressed so far! Slightly louder than the AS186 but only runs for a few seconds to top up the small tank (built into the carry handle), so evens itself out. Air delivery is so smooth, I've got no excuses now :smiling5:

Plans are to plumb the tank from the AS186 inline with it, which, as well as increasing storage capacity will act as an expansion chamber, ruling out any possibility of water coming through the lines (not that I have a problem with my current set up).

Looks good Andy. Why bother with the AS 186 tank if the airflow is really smooth though? Just seems like added complication to me ;)

Nos exciting as Andy's great buy above ( Nice one ,mate. ) The postman, not person I might add, kindly brought these to Race Towers late this afternoon

Hopefully the 2 sets might help or or at the worst hinder my figure painting.

I'd seen a Youtube video on figure painting with the guy using these Lifecolor Paints , as I'm not going to be spraying them I thought why not give them a try.

So the order was made with John.

Going to seem strange not have a Vallejo type bottle, so ordered this as well :smiling3:.

Right that's it, comments welcome as how others have got on with these would be nice.

John.

I hope you have more luck with LifeColor paints than I have. Maybe they work well on figures, but I just couldn’t get them to cover worth a damn on either tanks or planes.
