Scale Model Shop

Spots on the Internet 2020

Just had a look at the Def models site and it appears that the Zim is a resin coated decal.

Thanks chaps. I reasoned it couldn't possibly the whole kit.

Being ignorant on such matters, I just thought I'd seek confirmation...

Does no one use a heated screwdriver to do Zim anymore?

Karl, on S.M. we use all sorts of ways to produce our own Zim. Don't we chaps?
No one would dare actually buy the 'Stick On' nonsense... ;)
.

DEF Models is a Korean based company that makes aftermarket resin tire sets, resin figures, PE, alu barrels and their Zimmerit is made as a decal and not like Attack's Zimmerit of thin resin. Cut it out, pop into warm water and apply it to the vehicle like you would a decal. It actually doesn't look to bad when it's painted and weathered.

I wonder if it sticks well. I had not-so-great experiences with Archer’s casting numbers in that regard when I applied the decal sheets to bare plastic.

Jakko, it sticks very well, but you have to be careful to avoid it folding over on itself. You'll never get it apart again. The glue sticks and don't ask how I know...........

That Patriot launcher kit is odd: “Plastic parts by Trumpeter” and “Including 4 sets resin pipeline”. It makes me wonder what AFV Club added to the Trumpeter kit (just the “brand new PE part”?), exactly, and what that pipeline is supposed to be. My first thought was a mistranslation of the Chinese for “missile” but a quick search on Wikipedia followed by using Google Translate seems to rule that out.

AFV Club are not exactly the best when it comes to advertising their products! - I've given up on their website.............
