I cut out the patterns to transfer them onto three layer 3/32" balsa sheeting.

Now the patterns are ready to be cut out of the balsa sheeting.

Cut out all 52 left side right side bulkheads.

Closeup of the tail section. I've been using a strip planking method similar to old boat making.

The wing saddle area. This will be partly cut out later and fitted to the underside of the fuselage.

I made dozens of these planks from a balsa stripper tool. These are best to go on round surfaces such as the fuselage and engine nacelles. Wings and tail surfaces get sheeting.

This is the balsa stripper. Using the thumbscrew and turning it will give you the width you require to cut.

Here are two pieces st together. They have angle cuts on them to help reduce gaps in the joints.

The wing is a 3 piece unit. This is the central part with the four engines and main landing.

One of the four Saito .91 four stroke engines. This will pull a 3 blade 15"x3" diameter and pitch prop in order.

Wow, that is some beast.....I saw a similar sized Lancaster engines being run up (not flown) at the model engineering exhibition in Earl’s Court years ago. They had blokes hanging on to the wings to stop it taking off......quite impressive really.

Steven, really impressive. :thumb2: Lately I've seen some pretty convincing details on flying models. Enthusiast now don't just go for flying only but authentic detail as well.

WOW, a wingspan of 3.5m! I suppose it dismantles into transportable pieces? - just the logistics are staggering - I'm assuming you've built large scale flyers before?
