Latest Acquisitions (2020)

It was one of three prototypes that were built .....one was owned by some bigshot with a heavy equipment company and the other two were test vehicles if I understand the story right. The big shot was trying to get it out of the country at wars end and it was destroyed somewhere near or in czechoslovakia.

Nothing as exciting as Ricks or Lee's haul arrived at Race Towers post room this morning. :crying:
but important .

For the Bricks and the black for washes on the base.

I have been after this for a while but I could only find it for silly money. This came from a company in Greece. It came quickly, was exceptionally well packaged and only cost 14 euros.

A great find Jim, well done.

Thanks to a local "give away my stuff instead of taking it to the dump" face book group a new seat for the cave.
Needs recovered and maybe some new webbing and the wood varnished/painted, but it will be a welcome upgrade to my dining chair.

(Fairly certain it was made by Ducal furniture so wasn't cheap.)

These brushes arrived today. i cam across The brush maker Rosmary & co a while ago and really ;ike them. High quality but less expecsive than brands like W&N.

on the left is a set of 7 which cost £35. A bit of a punt really, it is a set marketed as for botanical water colourists. my thinking is that there is a lot in common between paintings figures and plants; some large areas and lots of thin details.it will be interesting to see how the two filberts (The two on the left) will do for larger areas of colour.

the odd brush on the right just intrigued me, described as 'red sable extended point' it will be interesting to see how good it is for long runs of details, such as uniform piping.

Been a fan of these brushes for a while, I opt for a synthetic/sable blend for more spring after talking to a guy that paints figures for a living.

I’ve been using them for several years as well, settling on series 93 sables as the best combination of spring/snap and longevity. They are fine up to size two, but the larger brushes don’t hold their point so well.

If I could get a size four with a sharp point I would probably use it for most of my 28mm gaming figure work. It would speed up the production line significantly because it would minimise paint drying on the brush.......

Another box of plastic to keep me busy on those cold winter nights, and perhaps even cold winter days.

295 parts so should take a while.

the extended point brush is a size 4 - I'll let you know how it holds it point. It looks a nice combination of a sizeable reservoir and good point.

Cheers Peter....the series 93 size 4 I have splits its point under pressure....
