Spots on the Internet (2021)

Revell seem to have a habit of sliding out releases without much fanfare - but probably since these are reboxings

This is a rebox of the original Zvezda model.....................

.........and this is a repop of the ICM model.
If you are in the market for either of these models, it pays to check prices on the original & the Revell versions - just a quick look, and you can find some good savings! ;)

I have a modelling friend whose an Airforce military attache who is now stationed in Moscow. His discovery that Russian made kits are really cheap there and the postage out to other countries is rather expensive. There's no direct mailing via China if you want to go that route... so the reason for the price differences in reboxing could be because manufacturing outside of Russia could discount the extra distribution cost. Just assuming.

Cheers,
Richard

Don't get too excited - this is from the Dragon moulds - at least Zvezda are open about it.............
Dave

That’s a bit disappointing — on seeing the box I expected a new kit of Zvezda’s current quality, which would have beaten the 30-year-old Dragon kit hands down.

Their actual wording was "based on Dragon molds", which could be taken a few ways.

I suppose we could hope for a new tool using the old ones as a reference, but somehow I doubt it.

Technically fruit ;)
Wondering if the produce for the crates is loose, or just cleverly molded - can imagine cleaning up mold lines from them!

If it’s miniart they are probably in about three parts for each vegetable LOL....
Fire engine looks good though, very tempting!

Where were these veges when I needed them. :confounded:

It depends on whether you ask grocers or botanists :)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomato#Fruit_versus_vegetable said:
Botanically, a tomato is a fruit—a berry, consisting of the ovary, together with its seeds, of a flowering plant. However, the tomato is considered a "culinary vegetable" because it has a much lower sugar content than culinary fruits; it is typically served as part of a salad or main course of a meal, rather than as a dessert. Tomatoes are not the only food source with this ambiguity; bell peppers, cucumbers, green beans, eggplants, avocados, and squashes of all kinds (such as zucchini and pumpkins) are all botanically fruit, yet cooked as vegetables.

Regardless, MiniArt seems intent on providing diorama accessories for every occasion. If only I had a use for them …

And before long you can get the authentic colours from AK' fruit and veg range.

Didn't the Belgian Army have dog-pulled carts for light machine guns?
Dave

Yes they did Dave, and in early war shots they look like they are wearing top hats.

Yea, but why does the dude on the left have a boot sole on the side of his rucksack. A spare tire or something???

Dutch Army too, until the 1930s when a Society for the Abolition of Cart-Dogs managed to get a law passed that forbade using dogs for pulling carts (in general, not just in the army). Soldiers then had to pull the carts (that had been modified with a drawbar) themselves, giving rise to jokes about setting up a Society for the Abolition of Cart-Soldiers.

Spare boots. Soldiers in many armies and times have been issued two sets of boots, one to wear (obviously) and the other to carry in or on the pack; they were then to alternate wearing them. I’m not sure of the logic behind this, but it wasn’t just the Belgian army of a hundred years ago that did this.
