Hi ladies and gents.

Just a quick one - if I want to create a pumped PVA spray glue (I avoid aerosols), what mix of PVA and water would a chap use? Also, I presume a couple of drops of washing up liquid would be wise?

TIA,

Bobby

Morning Andy !
The mix needs to be thin enough to pass through the spray unit, so if you try a 50/ 50 mix in a small container and then see if it passes through ok .If it does then add a couple of drops of washing up liquid to a mix and put into the unit .
I've found that a pipette of IPA on the area to be sprayed helps break down the surface tension and the spray mix will flow extremely well .
Have a look at Luke Towan on UTube for list of videos on PVA mixes .

Same here, fifty fifty with a single drop of dish soap to act as a dispersant. However, be sure to rinse the spray nozzle through carefully afterwards. The glue will set in it and block it solid otherwise.

Thank you all. Yes, I figured I'd need to clean nozzle and tube after each use, and seal it up just in case. I'll check out that Glue Guru's videos. Thanks again!

Thanks John and Andy et al, that is really helpful information :smiling2:

Just as a quick addendum, I've found these mayonnaise bottles to he excellent for thinned PVA. They have a very useful nozzle which doesn't clog as, not to put too fine a point on it, they have an anus instead of a nozzle.

Then you better make sure you wipe it clean as well !!!!!!!! :smiling: :tears-of-joy::tears-of-joy::tears-of-joy::dizzy:
You know what Matron is like for hygiene on the ward!! ;)
She doesn't like a messy nozzle!!

Paul.

I suggest wetwipes...easy on the anus. :tears-of-joy: ...but warm it first.

Cheers,
Richard

I'd be more worried about ending up with glue on my chips! :rolling:
