Tim,
oh dear - 2nd dose? I'm keeping my head down & avoiding contact ( not difficult when I don't get out much ). I do all my grocery shopping online & have a Tesco Food Convoy every two weeks ( I've been doing this ever since I retired ).
I looks like the GP service is very patchy. My local clinic ( 5 or 6 doctors ) is excellent - you can book an appointment online, and they text you to confirm & remind you. You can usually get to see a doctor within the week ( difficult one to get to see is the practise nurse, who does my Diabetic care ).
One thing I would recommend, if you are on repeat medication ( like me ), is to use a prescription service. I've been using Pharmacy2U since I retired. I order my medication online, they contact the GP & get the prescription, make it up & send by Royal Mail - sending me emails to keep me up to date. I get all my meds this way, including insulin, which is sent in an insulated box, with ice packs! A lot of the Chemists offer this sort of service - it beats having to queue at your local Boots' to pick up repeats! The only thing to watch out for is public holidays, and I don't depend on their reminders to order meds. They say ten days in advance, but it's more like 5 before stuff is delivered, however better safe than sorry. I've never had a moments problem with this, although occasionally the Royal Mail slips a day or so!

Sure I will be Allen. Don’t feel that bad at all, just snuffle with a mild headache.

Hi Tim
I've just got over the Covid virus - I tested positive for 11 days and I was quite bad. The annoying thing now is I'm still ill with a sort of chest infection. I just can't seem to get rid of it.
I would advise anyone to still be wary of this virus. It may have been 'defanged' but can still lead to a lengthy illness.

I'm sorry you have it again. Hopefully, this time, it remains just a head cold for a couple of days and goes away. It seems to be a different beast if it goes onto your chest.
Wishing you well
Paul

Cheers Paul. This time feels much different. As I said, I really wouldn’t think I had more than a cold if the test hadn’t shown different. First time I had it I was pretty rough for ages. It was right at the start of the pandemic and there were no tests outside of hospital. At least this time there are. I was really washed out and had a tight chest for at least a month, and my taste and smell senses never really came back properly afterwards….take it easy for a while and your chest will improve, but certainly don’t overdo it.

Hi Dave
i don’t see that many people either LOL….still caught it though. As to pharmacy meds, my local Bruton pharmacy is excellent. Drop off repeat scripts and pick up in a couple of days. They do the rest. I usually fill up my pill pots on Saturday for the week, check for the following week, and drop in any required top ups. I then pick them up towards the end of the next week. It’s an independent store which helps…..and it’s good to support local businesses where I can :thumb2:

Oh Bugger..... That`s bad news Tim:confounded:......
Keep yourself tucked up and cosy mate :sleeping::thumb2:,

Cheers Andy, that’s more or less what I said. Love to keep cosy, but our heating is on the blink at the mo….bloody microbore pipes. The engineer is due back Friday for the third go at unblocking it…at least it isn’t too cold out at present.

Just seen this thread Tim. I'm in the same club after getting C19 (or as a mate calls it the Kung Flu) for the 2nd time a couple of weeks ago.

First bout was almost 2 years ago to the day, very unpleasant with aches, shivers and generally feeling lousy for two weeks straight. This time round I wouldn't even have known I had it if I hadn't tested positive. Guess the vaccines work. :)

Hi Bob.
Cheers for the reply, and hope you are feeling better now. My first bout was also two years ago, pretty much to the day. I was rough for ages during the first bout, not feeling normal for a good month. This time I was convinced it was a cold, right up until I tested positive and the cough started up yesterday afternoon. Felt awful first thing today, but that lifted about an hour ago, along with the worst of the cough, so hopefully it’s on the way out now.
I completely agree ref. Vaccines. They work well and have saved a great number of lives. My immune system is much more compromised now than it was two years ago because my RA meds have been significantly increased to cope with the illness. Without vaccines I would probably be in significantly worse shape than I am.
Nice to know that the industry I worked in most of my life stepped up when needed :thumb2:

Sorry to read about your second dose of corvid even if its mild compared to your first one. Thankfully the jabs are working and also thankfully its not a mutated version that requires a further new jab.
I think my daughter and I are asymptomatic and haven't caught it even when we had a brush with close contacts and even when SWMBO tested positive we were negative.
Stay safe and get well.

Cheers,
Richard

Thanks Richard. It’s definitely a mutated version though, because like many other virus types (such as influenza) it can change as it moves through a population. It’s just a numbers game. The more times it replicates, the more chance there is that it will eventually change. Glad you’ve avoided it though. I’m like that with mumps. Despite all my mates and relations getting it as kids, I never did :thumb2:

Chris , CQC Inspection gave it inadequate rating , run by some large company called Lakeside Healthcare !
I've found the doctors ok along with many of the staff you couldn't wish for a nicer bunch , it's just the take over from a small well run surgery to a much larger one combing all the other surgeries in Stamford .The manager appears to be under a struggle , closing one surgery, before they had planning permission to extend a newer one . That was refused so had to reopen our old surgery. Not locals running it so they don't care .

That’s exactly what happened in Salisbury. The surgeries all combined to build a so called super surgery, which would be more efficient and cost effective…..until the plans were turned down. Meanwhile the current surgeries were left to atrophy while the planning process went on, reducing capacity to a point where they couldn’t cope. These companies concentrate on the money making business side, and ignore the fact they are actually running a service, not selling tins of beans :rolling:

Been there, got the t-shirt.
At last (touch wood) after several years struggling with our system, it seems to be working alright - we had it powerflushed (no difference), a new boiler to fix some leaks, all the radiators changed (no difference), a filter fitted (no difference), changed from a vented system to sealed and pressurised (no difference except I don't have to keep bleeding the rads) then eventually a chap came who had a car footpump fitted with an adaptor to connect to the radiator pipes - he blew back through the pipe to the kitchen radiator, and cleared a partial blockage, which seems so far to have fixed the problems.
Oh, and 3 out of the 7 thermostatic valves fitted with the new rads were faulty!
