Rick,
I've had my groceries ( and my prescription meds ) delivered since I retired - I always hated shopping for food & standing in queues! I have a food convoy from Tesco every two weeks - I start shopping about 5 days before the delivery, and I reckon I must add/change things at least half a dozen times before the order cut-off!
I've got on order started for next Tuesday, and I'll add stuff as I notice I'm running out, or decide I really fancy something. You don't impulse buy & can see offers that don't necessarily catch your eye in-store. Sounds a bit sad, I know, but I just think of all the time I would have wasted actually shopping in person

Not sad at all Dave.... Just a sensible use of time of it works for you.

First time for over a week I've managed to sleep more than four hours at a stretch, would have been more, but for the gardeners cutting the grass outside my window, with what seemed to be an unsilenced V8 lawn mower! I can walk a bit better, as long as I take it slowly & don't make any sharp turns! I managed to do the inbox review of the Bugatti Racer, so I might tentatively sit at the bench - not for finishing the M4 Mortar Carrier, but beginning assembly on the Revell Ferrari Formula 1 model...........

Good to hear you had a better night's sleep.

Bad backs take time Dave so, as hard as it is, you'll have to be patient. The trouble is pain is nature's way of saying "don't do that" and if the pain is dulled by pain killers we don't get the message :rolling:
Take care.

I've only had 2 painkillers in the last 24hrs, I don't like taking them for that reason, but at times it's unavoidable

At last the back is beginning to behave, it's now only an ache, no real pain. Now, of course I'm beginning to catch up on all that sleep I lost! - but I'm cautiously confident of getting some benchtime later today ( after an afternoon snooze! ) - probably just crank up the compressor to put a basecoat on the Ferrari..............
Dave

That's good Dave but, not wanting to put a damper on things, do take it carefully. Your back will still be fragile.

I'm gradually feeling better - I still have an ache, and it gets worse if I spend any time on my feet, but things are heading the right way. I haven't tried the stairs yet, a few more days before I attempt that!. I've stopped the painkillers, just have them on standby, if I have need of them.
As a rather stupid trial, I compared Paracetamol to Ibuprofen, and whilst Paracetamol gave quicker results, the Ibuprofen gave longer relief, but I've never really had the best results with Paracetamol, anyway.
It's probably all affected by the daily cocktail of pills I take, so this is really my individual reaction!

Hi Dave
Glad you're on the mend and also that you're not rushing things.

Glad to hear back is getting better. Not every medicine works for everyone just like penicillin.

Cheers,
Richard.

Glad you are improving Dave. Gently does it now ;)
Ibuprofen is a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID), by the way, not really a painkiller, which is why it worked better for your back pain. I take quite a few when I get an RA flare up….
Paracetamol is pretty ineffective for muscular skeletal issues, in my opinion, it just takes the edge off, but not enough to bring back mobility. It is worth taking for colds and influenza relief because it is effective at reducing temperature. I don’t ever find it works for headaches though, and I get those quite often as well :disappointed2:
