Rogue Heros.

My pet hate is the fact that actors (and wardrobe departments) have no idea how to wear or shape a beret! Nit-picking - moi?

Must admit, I thought the third episode was a little better, but still felt a bit like the Bullingdon club goes to the seaside…….

Was that anything like 'The Red Sea Diving Resort'?

I have just watched this series on Prime and I have to say I was thoroughly entertained. It reminded me that in the past I had the privilege of working with Maj David Gilbert Smith MC who held the post of commander SAS training from 1965 to 1969. Now he reflected a much later version of the SAS but having said that he was the most impressive character I have ever had the pleasure to work alongside. He won his MC in Korea and also played rugby for Scotland. I worked for him at his management training camp in Ross-on-Wye, during the 1980's. As Tim mentioned earlier his courses were based on solid leadership skills and very intelligent interpersonal skills.

In a somewhat caricatured fashion the training that the French troops are put through reflected, for me, some of what David, with the smallest bit of my help, put his trainees through. Although we didn't build a 30 ft tower, and jump off it, we did make our trainees build bridges from scaffolding across the Wye river, climb nearby cliffs, dive and recover objects from the bottom of the Wye and various other complicated tasks. Most interestingly when in the film the small French Jewish guy finally jumps from the tower the sense of achievement on his face was exactly what we saw multiple times as our trainees accomplished difficult or dangerous tasks that they thought were beyond them.

Stuck at home with the rona, I binge watched Rogue Heroes. I ignored the inaccuracies (people/equipment) and enjoyed it for what it is. I'll be watching it again for sure! You can sure tell it was made by the same mob that created Peaky Blinders.

It is an entertaining guilty pleasure. I think they give the LRDG short shrift as taxi drivers.

If you’re in the UK, you can watch it via iPlayer by following the link Ian gave.
