Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Is that one of the kits with a full interior?
No not this one Jakko…..And I’m glad it doesn’t at 1/72nd!
I do have my eye on Rye Fields 2A6 with full interio….maybe something for a birthday present at over £70 :surprised:

I couldn’t resist John’s offer from the shop.

Many thanks John. Looks like a paint set will be ordered soon.

In a galaxy long ago and far, far away......

Ok, so in reality, Junior's bedroom mid-April last year as I was quarantined with COVID, I started my serious search for relevant nachtjäger kits for my Hunters and Hunted collection, with some advice from our very own Mod, Nachtjägd nut and pig expert @AlanG.

One of the candidates from early/mid war was the Ju88 C-6. There is a very old 1970s Revell one of dubious quality doing the rounds, normally for £20+ plus P&P, a supposedly good Hasegawa one that goes for stupid money and normally has to come from Japan for stupid P&P on top and a 2013 'new' tool Revell of good quality that is based on their Ju88 bomber range of the same vintage, which are generally well received.

The Revell bombers come up pretty regularly but for some reason the C-6 night fighter version are like hens teeth; I have only seen three or four come up on eBay in 10 months of looking and they normally go for at least mid-£30s including P&P...too rich for my taste!

I had resorted to logging with a notification with Kingkit for a used one as and when they get one in stock. I've used them at least once for something else but heard nothing for almost a year.....then this popped up on Wednesday.....so I simply had too!!

I paid a bit more than I wanted but this is the one German night fighter I have been missing from my collection. The box is a bit battered but it is otherwise fine.

Oh and you will notice that I have got over the diversion of large(r) scale wingy things and returned to the one true scale!

ATB.

N.B. I think the Z/N appendage at the end is Revell thing. I have found it nowhere online and a review I found also questions its authenticity.....personally I think it's Revell's way of denoting the fact you can make both Zerstörer (Z) and Nachtjäger (N) versions. If anyone knows differently please let me know.

It's not the first kit with dual designation I've seen and suspect you're right with regards what can be built. But the Z and N are obviously made up, at least to my mind.

Went to the LHS to buy a pot of Tamiya Yellow for my dio and walked away with these extra stuff...angled tweezers, sanding sponges, CA applicator tubes, riveting tool & template and grey plastic sheet.

Nothing wrong with stocking up!

Just tried this for the first time and very impressed, leaves a lovely smooth finish.

Finish is so fine it’s like a clear coat
Like Karl I use the airbrush version - love the stuff - but I'm thinking of getting some in rattle can for when I just need a quick squirt :surprised:

Does it come out like a hosepipe or is it quite controlled?

I am an addict.....I must admit that I have a problem......I must....

So, as I was lamenting to our very own @The Smythe Meister at the weekend, eBay saved searches are a very bad concept, VERY bad indeed!!!

As you know I have been acquiring a number of larger scale aircraft and have been looking for something different from all of the Spits, Mustangs, Bf 109s and FW190s (I mean really, a 190!?!? ;) ), without knowing exactly what I wanted. This then this popped up on one of my saved searches.

I have looked at them before but whether it be eBay auction, eBay 'buy it now' or modelling sites, these are over £30 brand new or used and more often than not around mid-£30s when you add P&P. I saw the price and thought it might be worth a bid to see if I would get lucky. So I opened the entry to place the bid and saw to my amazement that it was a 'buy it now' listing. Only one other kit has gone this cheap on eBay. Ok, so the box lid is a bit dented but otherwise it's fine and all for the princely sum of.....

.....£23.95 delivered!! :astonished::astonished::astonished::astonished::smiling::smiling::smiling:

I think you would agree that it would have been the absolute height of rudeness not too. As Andy said on Saturday "No excuse needed there as far as I'm concerned!...."

This brings my tally of 1/48 wingy things to nine and there will be no more additions for the foreseeable future, for good reasons - honest!! Isn't that right Andy!!;)
