Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2023)

View attachment 477731

For a Sherman model I have in mind, I need a very early M4A1 hull, and instead of buying a full kit for that and not using the rest, I decided to take the gamble of ordering just the necessary sprues from the Asuka web shop. As they also had other stuff I feel I could use, I added that too, mainly jerry cans.

That was about two weeks ago. A few days later I received an e-mail that it had been sent, and after that it took nine more days to get to me, which I think is pretty good for a package coming all the way from Japan. And I wasn’t even charged any import duties or VAT!

A pair of big stickers that I've been considering for a while.

Plan is to use them as display bases, but I think I've gone a bit too large.

Right scale, wrong plane......
I could probably go to 20cm instead of these 30cm ones, but these might do twin engined planes.
Excuse my shocking ignorance then, but what is it?... "Bubble canopy", doesn't appear to be a Typhoon or Tempest... Hurricanes didn't have that type of canopy did it?!....

I like those Karl, where did you find them?

Good morning all

So firstly a HUGE thanks to @Dave Ward for helping me see the light! A comment on a recent 'latest acquisition' of his made me realise that I am not a plastic addict, addicted to eBay saved searchest!! Instead, like him, I just like an eBay bargain. Simples!! ;) :tongue-out3:

So this is this was only released last year and judging by the review dates not until November at that. This though was second hand and was bought as "some" parts removed from sprues. A more accurate description would have been MOST.....far too many to make sure they're all present, so here's hoping! That said they were all nicely contained in the sprue bag and not rattling around loose in the box

The box definitely suffered in the post due to iffy packaging (no external protective box and just one thin piece of bubble wrap around it). That said, the inside was well packed out with bubble wrap and I couldn't see any broken pieces, even with the really fine pieces. A quick test fit of the fuselage and wings shows there will be some filling needed, especially around the cowling but having seen one review that is a kit issue, not the sellers.

Prices new start at £29 delivered but most are low £30s and up. That said, a couple have/are going on eBay for around £25. Mine.....well that was only £20.11 delivered; basically 30% off new! As I said a bargain - assuming all of the pieces are there of course!!! ;)

ATB.

Thanks for the info/tip. I normally now use 5mm clear perspex as I find glass a bit too heavy after my last episode of a falling shelf.
These are the cleats,£9 ish, from Etsy...

Just arrived. No where near as cute as Doug's puppy though.
A nice big, strong box.

Just put on the dining room table to check it. Works very well, not too noisy either.

There's a hood to go on the front. I'll set it up in the work room later as I'll have to move things around slightly.

Latest acquisition, definitely NOT glass!!
!
B&Q great big blue plastic dust cover, use grey side if you get sea sick, cut up and cover all surfaces to walk on, mop and bucket for all the close misses, chain mail gloves for when the little darling needs to practice testing teeth, remember not to yell out loud when this happens, already had the police round 5 times thinking someone was being murdered. But watch all the women fall over themselves when you march into Pets at Home, they are not interested in you but the little bundle of fun you have with you...
Better not show SWMBO, have enough with our pup drooling in my ears...

Got the last package today. Houston, We have a problem.
Ordered the 23 from a site in Italy, so no complaint about the delivery time. Five days, including a weekend!
The problem is what was in the box...

Spot the mistake.. LOL this is the one I got from Germany last week. I have asked for a return post label.

Got home from the Euro Model Expo in Lingen yesterday. Two great days of fun and of course, a few purchases were the order of the day(s). I just needed paint, seatbelts for the WnW birds, a larger mat, some tools/hairy sticks and such. So,

The 3 resin figs are WWI ground crew from Copper State Models and were on sale to boot. Next,

My X-20A is over 20 years old, so time for a new one. From recommendations on here, I grabbed the Mr. Hobby stuff at good prices, along with the Xuron cutters. Could have gotten the Dspaie set but saw them after I bought the Xuron set. Some drill bits and flat brushes. I wasn't going to buy any kits as I have enough, but found this at a price I couldn't refuse,

And these are for a "wild hair up my butt" idea, down the road,

Lastly, I got a deal that, like I posted in the Hinkley Show thread earlier, was a "Crime of the Century" and If I had not bought them, I would have never spoken to myself again. Even my friend Thorsten said, for that price for both kits, don't hesitate for 1 second!!! This,

and this, with the crumpled box top (kit 100% ok) and I don't care about the box,

Ok, you can take a guess at how much they were together, but you would always be wrong! I stole both kits, for a lowly €150.00!!!!!!!!! My wallet may hate me, but I am one happy (retired) camper.......

I also have loads of pics to post, so please be patient as it will take time when I do and there's about 400 of 'em!!!...
