Scale Model Shop

Malayan Emergency 1/35 scale.

Those figures are brilliant. The movement you've modelled into them is perfect. The paint ties them together.

Very, very good, Richard. You have excelled yourself yet again. A most deserved award :thumb2:

Thank you Joe, Jim and John. The priming did reveal some rough surfaces on close-ups but is exceptable being in a dio at a safe distance.
One guy has the first coat and blending whilst the rest have the black painted in...

Still needs more highlights and shadows. The sten also needs some graphite. Let's see how many I can manage in a day.

Cheers,

" Your da Man " brilliant Wibble .
Thanks John, tried the Nightshift way of easy painting and it works.
SWMBO decided to move furniture around today which is a yearly ritual habit of hers being an ex interior designer. So my figure painting hopes today is dashed. Arms are still trembling from the heavy heaving of stuff from one end of the house to the other. Cats are also adjusting to the new environment.

Cheers,
Wabble

The figures are looking great Richard, the Simon T award is well deserved.
A nice Idea to start that John.:thumb2:

Wabble I had a friend who did just that, in the winter they moved in to a room with log burner.
Come summer they moved either to the conservatory or lounge .
Your lucky Mrs Wabble doesn't move those plants as well !

I feel your pain brother!
My SWMBO always moves something around when she does the dusting and it's a constant challenge to find where the car keys are kept this week or why the room looks different but can't quite put my finger on it. This week my son and I had to remove the top and saw 2 legs off her late dad's desk to get it(on end) around a tight corner into her office ... And then replace them, obvs!

Plant movement is a weekly affair and I stay clear and play deaf.

We surgeons have similar SWMBOs. :smiling6:

Today did an old style oils and turpentine wash to tone down the blueness on the two vehicles. They looked too odd standing out from the greenery. Stunk up the whole cave and house.

Wabble, that award is thoroughly deserved. My hat is doffed Sir.
Thanks Scottie. Rushing the individual components for the end of this month to give me a months time to blend and fine detail the whole dio for the comp. That reminds me I have yet to register my entries.

I'm certified mad modifying those nine dancers and dressing them in full kit to play the part of western influenced eastern dancing ala Bangra Breakdancing.:tears-of-joy:
The three entries to be registered are Ambush, Kure Harbour and The Bedouins Ass.:smiling2:

Yep, even the monkeys are weired, some mimicking NBA or WBA players, others doing the Egyptian dance and doing the sign language. And some think they're Tarzan. :smiling3:

Richard,

That figure is looking brilliant already. Can't writer wait to see the rest done.

Excellent surgery and painting, Richard. The Mr T award was certainly more than deserved. :thumb2: :smiling:.

Thanks Andrew, I'm as impatient as to finish the rest but daily life gets in the way. Presently our oldest cat Zsa Zsa is very ill and is getting my attention with syringing her food and nourishment including medication but the subcutaneous has to be done at the vets daily to stop her dehydrating so a slight delay will interrupt postings.

Thank you John.

As I have some busy daily schedules the delay in the drying time of the oils and turpentine wash suites me fine for now. This old technique of wash is similar to the Mig and AK washes technique except it takes too damn long to dry. The difference lies in the turp and thinner but most of all the the nature of oil drying time. The most telling difference is the barrier between the wash and the base paint beneath. In the past I never thought of protecting the base paint with acrylic varnish as when cured the turps don't attack it immediately. So the thought of using enamels and thinner wasn't in any plan.
Anyway here are the pics of the wash...nice and dark with still a little hint of blue...

There are some subtle streaks which I will go over with some lighter shades.

Best wishes for Zsa Zsa.
Pete
Zsa Zsa says thanks, managed her first few cheerful meows today and is eating on her own. Just have to manage her water intake.

Had some bench time so weathered the vehicles with dirt...basically painting in wet red earth colors and dusting. Also painted the equipment and lights.
