Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Hi all

So some holiday period themed arrivals at home. This represents most of the families acquisitions, although Junior and Junioress have already demolished one each.... for some reason Junior felt the need to create the below tower!

The bottom pic is my personal haul. The largest one is a gift from work.....so they would have bought over 500 of them!!

All I got was a bag of Maltesers.....

I bought the bloke on the right as an addition to the U-Boat crew. I made the assumption he was resin - nope white metal. The description also said 1/35, but he's much closer to 1/32. I'll paint him up and see how out of place he looks
Tall for his age.....

So following the question about how affix windows and canopy masks and various recommendations (here), I thought I would give this a whirl......

ATB.

Beware the glue does not stop coming out of the end - have a pin ready to put in the hole....

Okay so I have had a spend (and still a few more bits to come).....

Did not read the advert fully on evilbay about the Panther, that it comes with two choices and has the full interior. Tracks are for the Tamiya Hummel on its way to me along with tracks for a late Tiger. Little red thingys are for applying zimmerit, ultra thin glue is for thinning tamiya filler putty and the Tamiya epoxy putty is for the zimmerit - white spirit is to go with the Jack Daniels when the lemonade runs out.....

After a little trip to Hobbycraft for swmbo, I managed to sneak this little one in...

With my recent chest infection not
taking any chances with cutting EXP foam in the Proxxon or any glue and paint.
According to the web there is no harm with hot wire cutting, but the smell is enough .
Decided to use it outside of the cave in the summer now .

Had two older masks , the trouble is manufacturers change the spec so often you find the refills are unobtainable .

Hope you will blog this Rich.
Front seat please .Can't remember you ever doing any thing but sculptures.
Tanks always been my first love my friend.Fell out of love for trying to sculpt for some considerable time now.Ive discovered a great 2 Volume set called "Legacies" by Spencer Pollard. He pays homage to Francois Verlinden in it by imitating his dioramas.Ive bought an old Tamiya T34 76 for such purposes and some other golden oldies.I still love the old Tamiya classics. My mantra is for my standards is dont buy expensive kits when i cant finish them to do a decent standard.Im very partial to Kv1s also.
Happy modelling chum.

Replacement primers for figure/AFV stuff,AND,the stowage sets, bought for me to be able to finish the "Priest". :)
I do like the Redog stuff.....nice quality and very reasonably priced ;)

I need figures to populate the Gecko LCA (Landing Craft, Assault) I bought a few months ago, and browsing photos I had a good idea for how to do that without having to build 36 or so British soldiers ;) When ordering those, I also bought figures for something else I have in the stash, as well as some books that interested me:

However, when leafing through the Leopard 1 book, I thought it looked familiar …

On the left the book I just bought, on the right one I got 15 years ago. Turns out the English version is a translation of the Dutch one, but it has different layout (obviously, it’s A4 instead of just about square) and each seems to have some photos that aren’t in the other — the English one has a few pages with detail photos of Dutch Leopard 1s that aren’t in the original, for example. I’m wondering what to do: keep both? Sell the English version on? Not sure yet …
