Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Many makers, as it is HO scale in many countries Richard, and was a popular war gaming scale.

Well Richard there is ROCO, Trident, WSW, Arsenal M, Kniga Modelle, Hauler, Preiser, ADP Artmaster, SDV, Artitec, Alsa Cast, CMK, Wespe, Z+Z and others that don't come to mind presently. If you are already using a magnifier it's just a matter of getting used to something about 10 percent smaller than 1-76 scale. Piece 'o cake. :nerd:;)

Thanks for the info guys.Ive heard of Roco,Preiser,Hauler. You never know i might dip me toes into this scale.Always game for something new.

I stand corrected Rick.

HeliOps to Ukraine

The SK's are being replaced by AW139's. No flying from the site right now as the runway is under some sort of repair. As I'm driving past I can't get to close a look!!!
I’m confused now!!! As I type, a HeliOps Sea King has flown over my place, (twice) . Coasting out at Portland Bill then flying down the East side of the Island to return to the field!!!!!

A well deserved reason to go to the local recycling centre, after slinging a load of rubbish, I managed to grab myself this bundle... I did have to ask if there were any models that had come in and hey presto!

Spitfire 100%
D-day 100%
Tirpitz appears to be 100%
German supply wagon partly made but appears 100%
Tempest missing canopy
Female appears 100%
Church window missing a piece

Worth the trip

Definitely worth asking if there is anything on offer... be careful who you ask that question too though! :tears-of-joy:

A trip to Liverpool and I dropped in to Forbidden Planet and found this. But can you believe that Liverpool does not have a dedicated model shop?

Tells her story through crew members interviews, letters etc. The first section takes you through a tour of the ship using deck diagrams, very useful.

In the end got a bit emotional as I found you really got to know the ship and a lot about individual crew. When I read that that was a certain crew members last letter I had a lump in my throat, so sad. Many were transferred off Hood a day before she sailed, lucky escape but haunted them for the rest of there lives.

The sea lords /admiralty should have been shot for sending this magnificent ship into battle with a new Bismarck. The boilers and turbines were knackered, boiler feed water had to be dumped a lot due to leaks and contamination. The engine room stokers performed miracles keeping her going at high speed to get to the Denmark strait.

The fire control system was the same as built, never upgraded. She was painted so much that it made her sit even lower in the water, they started to chip in the numerous paint layers off but never finished. Ramble over lol

That, and the fact she was sent to do a job for which she was never designed……….to sit in a line of battle and slug it out against battleships…….she was a battle cruiser, basically a big gunned light cruiser…..a white elephant of a design, outdated by the end of the First World War.
Good job Spurious, Curious, and Outrageous were not around in their original condition, some fool would probably have put them up against Yamato…..
