Drastic but understandable.

I find methylated spirits strips it fine after a few minutes soaking but I've never tried it on a fully built model. I don't have a tub big enough to dunk one in! :smiling5:
The mr hobby paint remover looks like really good stuff, rub it on with a cotton bud and wipe off,i cant dunk it as it will destroy the cockpit.

So after the big paint cockup and it nearly getting binned i have set about it with some of this20230524_213625.jpg
Its making a great job of it,especially as its had to work its way through 2 acrylic clearcoats,2 coats of laquer green,2 coats of laquer silver and a coat of tamiya rattle can primer. It has unglued the flaps and wingroots but that shouldnt be a big issue to sort out. Still a bit to go but the mr hobby paint remover is making pretty quick work of it.20230524_213615.jpg20230524_213519.jpg20230524_213558.jpg

Impressed by that stuff Mark. How do you apply it?

Its pretty good stuff and dosnt smell much which is a bonus, pour some into a container so you dont contaminate the bottle and apply quite liberally with a cotton bud or as i have quite a build up of paint i found it better using a stiff brush and giving it a little scrub, wipe off with kitchen towel, you may have to repeat when theres a few layers to work through and to clean the last residues off just a wipe with clean towel dipped in clean paint remover. Things can get a little messy so gloves are a good idea

Looks good stuff. Has it unglued anything else or just the flaps and wingroots? Might be useful as an ungluer?

Just those so far, ive tried to keep it off the fusalge joins as best as i can and they seem ok so far, it has removed some vallejo putty that was in the wing roots, so yes you probably could take a kit back to parts.

Well Mark, I'm glad you have managed to strip that mottled coat. Just take a deep breath and start again.

Well the mojo has been lacking just recently but ive managed to muster up the enthusiasm to get this in colour and clearcoated, with a bit more success than last time thankfully.20230529_172412.jpg20230529_172256.jpg

Right, so since my last post ive give it a blast of the right colour and laquered it, the bin has been moved a little closer to the bench also cos one more f#@£ up and thats where its going:angry: think this has cost me the same in paint as the kit cost now:tears-of-joy:

Apologies for not joining in sooner Mark .

A disaster saved , I can only imagine how you must have felt seeing that reaction on the paint !
Great save , thank goodness the office was untouched , that was some great detail , esp those seat belts .
May the Gods be with you .

I'm with JR on this as well Mark.......nice recovery and great execution back to the point of decals. :thumb2:

Gee Mark, if it wasn't for bad luck, you wouldn't have any at all. Been watching from the cheap seats and can't believe all the trials and tribulations you've had so far. But in the true spirit of the hobby, you drove on and didn't let them get to you. Super job Sir!!!

Prost
