Im planning a long term .. highly ambitious setup .. the one that sits on the back burner but is worked on now and then .. X2 Famos , Panther or maybe other based on the bridge concept in the other picture .. i want a waterfall at one end though and a much bigger river !

Bottom Famo turned up today .. plagiarism i feel but it looks gorgeous and i want to have a go at something really challenging in between other models .. or perhaps an homage to something so good .


Btw .. how do i get images the correct way up .. i've tried rotating but no joy ???

Camera or smart phone?
Take the pictures landscape: wide and low not tall and thin.
If you need to turn the image, don't forget to save it.

Found this listed on Etsy for the ridiculous price in the lower left corner of the image so I ordered 2 of these Fiat 666 trucks in 1-87 scale. This company is in Poland and the quality of his printing in this scale is "baby butt" smooth with all the fine details in place. The best part is that he prints most all scales. I visited his site and there are lots of other interesting and uncommon models available. If you don't see what you are looking for email him and he'll let you know if he can do it.

Two parcels waiting for me when I got home from work. The first one from @john excellent service as usual:

Been keen to try the S M S paints for diorama bases since people have said they are a bit more opaque than MRP. And I know some scoff at ready made 'modelling' products, but I've never used resin before, and don't have space to store bigger vats of the stuff, so this will be ideal for the first attempt at water for me.

Second parcel contained these two. Bought on a facebook auction site at half the RRP prices. Both delivered, cost less than one item on it's own. The firetruck not usually my thing, but could be fun. If not I'll pop it on ebay where they seem to go for double what I paid.

Just arrived from Australia in 15 days from ordering to being in my sweaty palms. Via ebay for £57.00 including all taxes and air freight, most expensive kit I've ever had but is an early birthday present from 2 of my kids. Kit contains a PE lifting cage, winch cable and a rudimentary sea scape base ( no wash from rotor blades depicted ). Differing rotor heads and blades are provided for at rest, in flight or folded. A 6 bladed tail rotor and numerous ASW equipment are also in the box. The life raft, capsule support belt and "balloons" are a type of flexible vinyl/rubber material so will have to research how to get a lasting paint job on them
The figures are the closest I could find to reality for £8.95 delivered also from the bay.
So a future build with my first helicopter, figures and diorama and have figure out a method of suspending/supporting the helo - well what's life without a few conundrums.

Like the look of the Huey and the RAF rescue boat. They still had a rescue launch at Falmouth when I was at Culdrose in the early 70's. Don't know when they were phased out given that Helicopters seemed to take over sea rescue mid to late 60's.

There used to be a civilianised Fairmile in the creek just outside Southampton - lovely lines!

I have vague recollection of that with my sojourns to Lee on Solent for courses!! They would have made lovely cabin cruisers.

Hi Neil, I'm a convert to anything I can get in 1-87 scale.........the exception being white metal castings. I bought one of those 30 or more years ago and still have not built it. It's an Sd.Kfz. 222 Armored car and I think I'm going to use it for a pattern and scratch build one out of styrene like I did when I built my 231 (8 rad). There were no models of that available and I worked from sketches and photographs.

An e.bay purchase.Blast from the past.Remember having this kit when it first came out and made bit of a hash of it.Box was still shrink wrapped and tracks look better then the Italeri reissues.The tracks in these kits are shocking and rubbery sort of plastic which is a bitch to glue.
Might have to source some replacement tracks as i have a few Italeri/Esci m60s.Has anybody any thoughts on the Takom or Afv Club replacement indy links?.

Thanks gents. I was quite please with the haul....although serious discussions were had about he size of my stash.

Has anybody any thoughts on the Takom or Afv Club replacement indy links?.

Yes: buy the Takom ones if you like lengthy cleanup of many pieces, fiddly assembly of many pieces, and track with a lot of stretch in it. Buy the AFV Club ones if you want track that needs little cleanup, is about as simple to assemble as workable track will be, and hardly stretches a millimetre. The Takom track’s chief advantages are having holes in the ends of the pins (on the outside of the track only) and having central guide horns that follow the track’s curve.

I sold on the tracks that came with the Takom M247 Sgt. York kit (that they also sell separately) because I did not want to put it together, and the person I sold it to, took something like 14 hours to build it, I think he mentioned. By contrast, I’ve built several sets of AFV Club M48/M60 track and would do so again tomorrow if I was building a kit that needed it.

Oh, one thing: not sure if you’ve seen the discussion on Missing-Lynx about M48/M60/M102 tracks, but the AFV Club T97 tracks (the ones with the chevrons) are not accurate for an M48 or M60 — only for the M88 ARV and M102 heavy tank.
