Just braved the elements and nipped to Lidl before the thunder and lightning returns, still biblical rain mind!!

Much bigger, and made of good solid plastic,so the drawers open effortlessly, and,at £14:99,a real bargain in my mind :thumb2:.

I don't usually post in this thread, but this may amuse you....

Wife went out for lunch with a couple of her older siblings and one gave her this, which he had picked up at a boot sale as "I know Nick does models".

"He put it in the boot of my car for me and my hands were black by the time I got it indoors" she said when I got home from work.....20230917_120520.jpg

Looks like it's all there although the 'modelling' already carried out will need to be undone and restarted.

I dare say our serial Titanic builder @peterairfix will have seen this one before so I may be looking for some assistance if it ever sees the light of day again. In the meantime I have hoovered out all the dust and wrapped the box in cling film before hiding it in a dark corner....

OK chaps.....I know I said I would buy no more kits......well I haven't BOUGHT any more kits....honest!!!

Today I went to a Fenland and Spalding Model Show, hosted by Scotties club. It's a bit further than I normally travel for shows but as a number reprobate members from on here made the effort, I thought it would be great to meet.

As part of a show they had a lucky dip to try to win a few items that had been donated in support of a local charity (air ambulance?). I had resisted several tempting kits on various stands....but towards the end of the afternoon there were still some items outstanding in the lucky dip and so I paid my £1 and got the opportunity to have four attempts at winning something.....of course with the intent of making sure the charity got some cash.

As you can see I was very lucky!!

I see from the initial reviews that Academy Spitfire is a reboxing of a 25+ year old kit and has some issues dimensions wise but it cost me the grand sum of 50p, so I can live with that!

These are my haul from the fenland and Spalding show.

These are from the tombola, not has lucky as Andrew, but they will fit into a diorama some day.

I’ve not built an Eduard kit before so I’m looking forward to getting started on this one.

Geoff.

Mine arrived this morning and it looks really nice, my dad’s old mob used them in Cyprus so I’m trying to find some pics I had to try and recreate one of theirs

It has a white metal cockpit to act as a counterweight to prevent it tail sitting, the camo is going to be a challenge mind!!

I think something struck me a heavy blow on the head yesterday, causing me to lose my senses:

Some of the civilians and some of the heads are for the LCA. The Takom M29 Weasel kit is because of a discussion about a review of this kit over on Missing-Lynx, leading me to want to see for myself if that review is indeed a case of the problem lying with the modeller rather than the kit (as I suspect it does). It’s times two because I still want to build an M29C (the version with floats) but don’t want to finish the one I started two years ago, and though I do expect Takom to eventually bring out that version, I don’t expect it anytime soon. However, the place where I ordered all of this also had an LZ Models M29C, for only €2 more than the Takom plastic one — so, a brilliant plan hatched: steal the “C” parts from the LZ kit and stick them to a second plastic Takom kit, thereby avoiding the majority of the LZ kit’s problems.

… except the shop then sent me LZ’s normal M29 kit, rather than the M29C, by mistake … They had one of each, and when I contacted them about it, immediately replied they would send me the C kit right away — and said I can keep the M29 kit as well. Even after I offered to return it, I was told that’s not necessary (probably partly because they know too that nobody will want it, I suspect, but still). Not sure what to do with it, though :)

A few years ago on the old MMod forum a guy built that Weasel. Very fiddly but a superb model.

Chances are that was the same one who wrote the two-part article about it in Military Modelling, and took the photos of the model under construction that LZ uses in their instructions. Though I agree with @David Lovell that any kit can be built, IMHO some simply take too much effort for me to want to do that. I do not want to build a whole LZ Weasel — I got part of the way through the one I started two years ago, and kind of had enough of it.

I have built the "Big Boy" as a commission before now, the drivegear noodled me for an eve or two, the kit builds into a fine model though...enjoy

Thinking back and hunting through old stuff it was a guy called Adam Kuller and although an experienced modeller he found the kit a nightmare.

Ian - the more you look at that plane the odder it looks :tongue-out3:
