discussion Vallejo Airbrush Flow Improver??

Just wondering if this has been tried for brush painting? I recently came into a whole 200ml. bottle of this stuff and am curious as to whether it would be useful in brush painting my little guys......I don't put anything but enamel paint through my A/B, so I'm hoping I can find another use for this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I use it a lot for brush painting Rick. It’s great for anything that needs fine control because it improves the way the paint flows off the brush. Just a spot in a wet mix will make the paint act more like ink and flow nicely for fine lines and sharp edges. 200ml will probably last you several life times though…….

Good news that is Tim! I know what you mean by the quantity......think I'll put some in an empty Vallejo bottle and save the rest for the grandkids and their children!!

And if you are interested, their retarder is good in brush painting as well. add enough and they react and paint (almost) just like oil paints!

Yep, retarder slows drying time so is good for allowing wet on wet mixing for acrylic paint. Also helps drybrushing if you make sure it’s well mixed.

There are others……..
Matt/Gloss medium is useful for diluting acrylic paint without breaking down the structure and adherence qualities that just adding water alone may affect. it’s basically paint without pigments.

Glaze medium does a similar job, but also increases paint transparency so is great for overlaying shades to make tints and glazes (obviously).

Investing in a few of these and learning how they work will enable you to replicate the effects that Mig/Ammo/ whatever they are called this week supply in pre mixed bottles using any colour or mix from your paint collection…

I've had good results with the Glaze medium....not tried the Retarder yet and am looking forward to working with the Flow improver. Thanks for all the input. :thumb2:
