Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2023)

When i searched on e.bay for 1a4 markings the Peddinghaus ones popped up.When i opened the packet the left set are Leopard 2A4!!!.
Easy mistake to make, really, but I wouldn’t have seen that from the markings :) Well, not unless I had gone and looked up the registration numbers. Had they been Dutch it might have clicked, because of the 2A4(NL) numbers are somewhat unusual,

They arent big so probably 72nd scale.
It says that on the sheet, which is why I asked :)

Postie rang today while I was ready to hissy the flatcar. Thank god I hadn't started as I had just finished mixing the paint...Two packages, one big, one small. The big one,

IMG_4116.JPG
Thinner for the X-19 smoke color, X-24 clear yellow to go with my clear orange, for woodwork and props. The XF-83 for the my Albatro W.4 Fusi and the dock for the RR track. The gauge is a 1 mm smaller than the MiniArt RR wheels, I set to the European gauge.

The small package was from the Insel and made it to me in 3 1/2 days. When I opened it, I was completely blow away by it's contents!!! A while back I had asked for info about anyone making 3D printed floats for my Albatros W.4. Help was given and appreciated! I then received a PM from a distinguished and talented member of the forum, stating he might be able to print a set for me. I sent him info and details and today was the day of reckoning!!!!

These are absolutely magnificent, perfect scaled and so well made!!! Clean up, with wet sanding took less than 5 minutes!!!

A truly gigantic Thank You, from the bottom of my heart, goes to our Neil Merryweather!!! He took a couple of old pics, some dimensions, B/W drawings, and created these masterpieces for my build. The man is a true genius and gentleman too. It will be a shame to paint them and cover the tops with naval hex decals, let alone drill into them for the strut supports. Folks like Neil is what makes this forum so great!!! He's amazing and always helpful!!!...And thank you once again Sir!!!...

He is indeed most helpful. Dockside looks very good too.

You're too kind Allen; it was a little bit of a challenge for my rudimentary CAD skills but I thoroughly enjoyed it! And I can't pretend I'm not pleased with the result.
Cheers

Not new but 1 / 1!

Took some masking but happy with the finish!

My I introduce Luna, 2 yr lady. Dumped in cat charity. Not anymore, she's lovely.

We lost our Mr nibs in June, so with for some stupid reason people not taking black and white moggies ( we have had many) we thought she's ours!

Absolutely marvellous Bob. She’s a real cracker. Don’t know why people don’t want black and whites, very friendly moggies in my experience. Don’t know why black cats are seen as unlucky either.
Mind you, you must have needed gloves to get the masking tape off…..

Cheers Tim, we have had many black or black and white tuxedo cats and Every one has been a joy to love and own.

Its been confusing mate as i put in 1.35th in search on e.bay yet sheet says 1.72nd.I messaged Mr P to see what scale they are.Waiting to hear back from them. There isnt many sets around for Bundeswehr 1a4s.Probably because only one Panzer division had them.Im hopefully going to SMW in Telford next month so might see if any German modellers can advise or if the guys at Leopard SIG know.
We definately need some 1.72nd Leopard 1a3s and 4s as the Italeri one isnt great and the Revell 1a5 is non existent in U.k.

A trundle across the counties to Bovington tank museum on Friday left me with a huge grin on my face and a small hole in the wallet!

I made one out of a tea strainer and an electronic fly swatter a few years ago Andy. Works OK, but you do need to Earth the base to the unit to get it to work well. The working height isn’t that large either around six inches I seem to remember. I’ve since bought a stronger “flock box” type, and that mostly flocks my arms when I’m using it :tongue-out3:
Plus there's nothing like the kick you get when you inadvertently touch the live part as you said Tim.
Had one, gave up and got a all singing and dancing one from WS

An ebay auction win - £15 delivered - not as cheap as I hoped, but someone else bid at the last minute! Very similar to Eduard style model, resin engine, PE & 2 sheets of lozenge decals! May make an appearance n the Biplane GB - who knows?

I went into town today for some pond supplies, but it turned out the pet shop closed a month ago :( Before I found that out, though, I had already picked up some largish brushes from the art supplies store, and some more reading material from the well-stocked bookstore:

The title translates as Wheel and Track: Vehicles of the [Royal Netherlands] Army 1945–2015. It’s not just a catalogue of them, but has a full text describing (briefly) the whys and hows as well, plus tables with amounts, registration numbers, and more:

This came out a few years ago, and I had wanted to get a copy then, but kind of forgot to :rolling: Glad I went to the history books section of the store today.

I may need to get myself a sturdier bookcase next — two volumes of Son of Sherman the other week, and this one is about the same size as one of those: 558 pages A4 with a hard cover …
