Boatmans Super Tomcat F14D Build

Happy New Year Chris. All the best to you and Jen for 2024!
The wing tip lights are looking the biz. Do you plan on any more lights - beacon lights or in the cockpit maybe?

Hope you both had a great Xmas

Disaster mostly averted, though, so good job in any case :) BTW, acetone (a major constituent of nail polish remover) is supposed to work reasonably well to dissolve superglue, in case you have a similar accident in the future.

If the instructions have gotten damaged, they are on Scalemates, which you could download and print out the damaged pages if you need them. Or view them on your computer screen, of course.

Not joking.
I use those Deluxe glue nozzles amongst other things. I like to try and keep all stuff good to get most use out of it. After using it with the extra thin Cyano glue I decided to clear it once removed as there was a little in it I didn't want drying and blocking it.
This worked a treat. However what I couldn't see was the bit on the outside. This became immediately apparent when I closed my mouth and found my lips glued together.
A move I shall not be repeating.

HI Guys well now back to working on that big tomcat an im done on the wings for the moment till paint time an they have their nav leds fitted in so ive packed them away till i need them an so what next well i thought id jump to the port tail vertical an fit in the leds in them an so here is the work been done to take the front red flashing anti collishion light an the rear white formation light an first pic the tail plane has been gently bured out to take the lights IMG_8815.JPG

NEXT pic here the 2mm leds are glued in place an their wires in the bured out channels an had to be very carefull i dint bure right through the tail plane IMG_8816.JPG

AN an couple of pics to show both sides of the vertical to show i dint go right through as if not very carefull its esayliy done then i would be in trouble IMG_8817.JPGIMG_8818.JPG

AN a close up shot so the leds can be seen an im goin to have to grind a tiny bit off the front glass so it will sit properly over the tiny red flashing led an also can be seen the rear white led

That looks like delicate work, cutting a channel like that into the part without cutting through it … So good job, by the looks of it :)

Well Chris, that seems to be up to your usual standard, great progress my friend.

Cracking stuff indeed Chris, you've got nerves of steel my friend..

I think that's the secret Chris. Once you lose concentration or develop the shakes - walk away. A nice cuppa, biscuit of choice and when the day is full of sunshine - go back to it. You're doing a cracking job my friend. Tis a brave thing you do chasing in wires in flimsy plastic.

THANKS Chris but i dont know about nerves of steel im more like a qiverin jelly when doin that burein as i have to keep checkin on how far ive bured into the plastic part as i hold it up to the light an that gives me an idea how close i am to goin through so then i hit the brakes lol

I thought being retired I’d have all the time in the world!! Ha!!
I just grab opportunities as they appear. I certainly can’t plan bench time. However, that does mean I actually enjoy those times sitting with a file or glue pot!! Especially if there is a cup of something as well.
Keep up the good wok Chris.
