If it’s ABS then plastruct solvent will do it as well. After all, plastruct sections are ABS…..if you can get solvents at work Andy, try Butanone. It’s what C and L used to sell to stick their ABS railway track parts together.

Ive also heard of Lego being used as a former when scratchbuilding boxes for things like buildings because it is dead square.

A successful eBay bid finds me in possession of this soon to be re released Hasegawa classic

Picked up at Salute last weekend. I was hoping this had been released in time but only one stand had it

Although I've already got all the BEF infantry I need, I was hoping to use this lot for extras to gun crews and such, but the poses and layout don't lend them as easily to that as the Warlord late war Brits with their open hands
Still, nothing like a little plastic surgery... And I've already made one faux pas, in converting a BEF guardsman to a Lewis gunner, by completely missing the Lewis magazine pouch on the sprue, until AFTER I'd scratchbuilt some!

Not EXACTLY modelling related, but it's come in handy in my War Office :smiling3:
Found in Lidl today for the princely sum of £6:99....

... If you're looking for build instructions, forget it,but it's no hill of beans to work it out for yourself ;)
Goes together easily and looks quite nice in my mind... there are other styles too.
My one is now all together and serving it's purpose, hosting glues, diorama texture pots and other stuff.... A cheap and quality addition IMHO .:thumb2:

As you said Andy, ABS is a type of styrene but if all else fails Tamiya do sell ABS cement as well.

Hello,
This very useful tool just arrived in the mail to replace its almost empty brother.

Next up….I Had this preordered from China and wasn’t expecting it for a while. Hopefully it will be as good as the other Vespid kits I’ve built.

Morning all

So a few purchases/arrivals this week!

ATB

Andrew

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So first some metal barrels for my recent AFV purchases:

Next up these two from my local model shop, which specialises in RC kits - especially planes - but also has a reasonable and increasing range of kits.

I have decided not to do my original FW190 Red 2 in winter camo as it will nominally be flying in the summer, plus I have hacked it about it for wargaming purposes. So I have been looking around for another one for while, so I could do it properly....this version of the kit has though have been out of production for years and online the cheapest delivered I could find it online was £14. However, I then saw my local shop had it in stock for only £9. So after a five minute walk down to the shop - it's that close - it was in my hands.

When picking up the 190 I also saw this for £10 but obviously didn't have to worry about P&P, so still reasonably priced.....I have two others in the stash, having really enjoyed one I've built previously (which broke beyond repair), so I can now do all three versions allowed for by the kit.

And finally this.

Junior's Churchills are from 6th Guard Tank Brigades and so I have always wanted to know more about the unit.

This is actually a 'reprint' by Naval & Military Press of a book originally published in 1946. I have another one of their reprints of a very old book and in both case they don't appear to be a reprint in the traditional way. Rather I think they obtain a very good quality original and take very high quality images of the pages and do it that way - certainly the font and layout are not modern and the text doesn't look like it's actually been printed in the traditional way. I'm not that fussed about having an original, especially as this was about half the price of the cheapest original.

I needed a pot of paint for my Abrams and some transparency glue so, while in Turin, I paid a visit to my old LHS.
Don't know why that Stug fell into my bag... ;)

Went to my local club monthly meeting last night where members bring along their latest work in progress or finished build, give a quick update on the progress, then it is onto a talk about a modelling subject where last night it was 'The model you purchased and will never build'...
There was also a bit of a bring and buy stall set up with a sideline of bartering going on...
And one of the members chucked this in front of me as it is not his scale (1/16), I did offer to pay, but as we pass items back and forth there was no charge...

And there it is in all its glory complete with the instructions - yes, that is all of the instructions..... So it will be off into the interworld to see what I can find as far as reference material goes....

Another quick purchase on fleabay very local so went and picked it up and as I have a westland scout and a 1/72 westland wasp on the way I can sense a theme developing IMG_20240424_184941.jpg

Latest purchases.

I had the Matchbox 1/32 version years ago but didn’t have the skills to do it justice, I want to do this in the same scheme.

What better for a Summer build on the 80th anniversary of D-Day :smiling3:

A cheap ebay win...IMG_7245.jpeg
Two 1/16 3D printed figures I took a gamble on. Fairly cheap but good for what I paid.
IMG_7243.jpeg

And the pricey detail up kits from AFV Modeller for the 1/16 Achilles. Look extremely good at a glance.
