    ESCI 1/48 Henschel hs 129 b-3 completed

Such a cool Aircraft, great build and finish, I would imagine the recoil from that gun would send the plane backwards!!

    Airfix Wessex SAR.

Second attempt at the Airfix Wessex, Fair bit of aftermarket stuff out now so it’s got new seats, exhausts, transmission cover and wheels. Xtra decal have just bought out two decal sheets with about a dozen options, so this won’t be my last Wessex. Got the finish a bit wrong, should have more of...

    Airfix HC2 Wessex SAR.

Second build of the super little Wessex, first was straight out of the box but there are now some decent aftermarket additions out there and I’m going to try a few. First job was to try and replicate the wet floor in the cabin, so just raid the kitchen and cut some baco foil to size and stick...

    Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 Hungarian Air Force-Tamiya 1:48

It’s a smashing kit as you have shown here, but your build and paint job have lifted it to a higher level again, great job!

    Taping

Always use Tamiya tape, but I try to de-tack it before applying to the model by either using my fingers to make it less sticky or stick it to my cutting mat, peel it off then use on the model, works for me !

    Airfix B17G ‘ Pleasure Bent’

Not to my knowledge pjgtech, there were a few hi-bred experiments with additional turrets etc, but never anything wing mounted.

    Airfix B17G ‘ Pleasure Bent’

Hi Neil, yes aftermarket decals, Kits World, so many schemes out there but perhaps not enough time to do them!! Depending on my work load, build times vary, this one took a couple of months on and off, which is about average for me.

    Airfix B17G ‘ Pleasure Bent’

Hi Steven, I didn’t polish the plastic but did prime the model with SMS jet black which gives a high gloss finish, I was trying to achieve a more anodised finish to the aluminium to try and make the model look a bit more war weary which I why it has a more patchy appearance on the wings.

    Airfix B17G ‘ Pleasure Bent’

Another of my recent B17 builds, liked the thought of the Silver/Red combination, SMS acrylic laquers used throughout.

    Tamiya P51B

Built a lot of Mustangs over the years but always come back to Tamiya, this one was built using Montex masks which need care as they can stretch out of shape. The story of the scheme was that to CO wanted a checker nose on his mount and this is what the paint shop came up with!!! Short lived, he...

Is scale modelling a cheap or expensive hobby?

I think most will be surprised just how much we all spend on this hobby, I went to the local model shop to get a few things, glue, tape, paint etc and ended up spending nearly £50 and no, I didn’t succumb to buying a kit! Good 1/48th model Aircraft can easily cost £50 upwards so it doesn’t take...
