Brian's Caldercraft 1/72 HMS Victory

The ratlines might be really tedious Brian, but they really are iconic, and the whole just looks better and better….every time you get to the end of a section I wonder what’s next….

great job on the ratlines, nearly there. When you get the yards crossed she really starts to take shape.
Thanks John
I haven't looked yet but wondering if the yards are pinned to the mast or fitted using the blocks?

Brian

The yards fit to the masts using blocks forming the lifts, ( I know you have already fitted the jeers which carry the lift blocks), and have halliards running down the mast to the pin rail at the base. They also have PARRELS which are ropes carrying small round blocks which fit around the mast holding the yard to the mast. These also allow the yards to slide up and down the mast on the round roller things. I must say that some modellers do pin the yards to the mast as an extra solid attachment but this is only for secure modelling purposes. Finally there are lifts that run from a block at the very ends of the yards to the cross trees on the top mast. These also have halliards running down to the pin rail at the base
