Very appropriately, today is ANZAC Day. With beautiful weather, and a helping hand from SWMBO, sea trails went ahead for HMS Iron Duke. I am very pleased with the results, no leaks, stable, a good dash of speed and handles well.- Tworrs

Those of you with dual workspaces (build inside, spray elsewhere)
This is my airbrushing setup (very hi-tech), an old cardboard box with an old bathroom extract fan attached to a length of 5" corrugated air vent hose, stuck through the window. While very rudimentary, it works.- Tworrs

Well the tank test was a success, after about and hour in the water, and having run the motors and operated the rudders and stabilisers, I am pleased to say that there was no water ingress. Happy days.- Tworrs

I got stuck in with the hairy stick and painted the white heli deck lines and the yellow and black warning markings on the foredeck, and now she is starting to liven up a bit. I'm waiting for the transfers for the depth markings and the various stickers that I think I will need from Fox...- Tworrs

Hi Chris, unfortunately no bits have come yet, however there has been an update on tracking, that the parcel actually left the UK on 16th February. Now that is after it was posted on 16th December, and remember it was ordered in October!!!! Royal Mail strikes and cyber attacks certainly played...- Tworrs

Well the breakwater and the seawolf missile silo covers are done, and I sprayed the deck in Vallejo Dark Sea Grey, which creates nice contrast, in time I want to weather everything for a more realistic look. I took advantage of a glorious summers day, and gave HMS Iron Duke her first wet bottom. Fortunately no leaks, just a minor drop from the port prop shaft, so will need to re-grease that. Further progress, the black stripe at the waterline has been painted, and I'm pretty happy with the result. That was a lot of masking and re-masking, I'm glad it's done :smiling: ;) All in, about 6 coats of each colour has been sprayed on. All that really needs doing is the clear-coat, but...- Tworrs

I took the paint on the hull back to light grey, then applied a rattle can primer, sort of a red oxide, which is the colour I was looking for. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and advice.- Tworrs

I decided to spray the underside of the hull, and am pretty disappointed, I used Vallejo Air Hull Red, and to my eyes it looks brown, after two light coats. I'll have to look for an alternative, any suggestions?- Tworrs
