1/35 Bronco Bishop SPG - forum choice

Back to the bench! I've put away the track links for the moment & moved onto the interior - primed & basecoated.....................
The steering levers are a really tricky part to assemble - 5 bits with minimal glueing area - any way I'll just give the seat cushions a touch of paint, because, when the upper hull is added......................
I've still got the gun mounting, the gun & the upper box superstructure to add, so any additional detail in the drivers compartment will be a waste of time!

Hi Dave,
SWMBO put me on the right track when i started to lose the mojo, get out a fiction book and spend a couple of hours reading - Dirk Pitt and me have become firm friends.... Trouble is we used to have so many other things going on in our lives, and now we have all the time in the world to do what we enjoy, some of the haste has been taken away.
Like the work on the interior.

Glad to see progress on this and maybe it signals a returned mojo. Very strange times we are experiencing. We are also finding it hard to know what day it is as all the things we used to do have stopped.
Glad the interior colour is sorted and good luck with the tracks.

Re; Dirk Pitt & Clive Cussler I enjoyed one or two, but 'Raise the Titanic' & 'Sahara' were a step in imagination too far for me!

At least it was a temporary mojo dip...... the one i`ve just got over lasted about 14 months!!

Spent an hour or so - adding parts to the upper hull - this is after 30 bits!
Doesn't look a great deal different from before!
One thing that is a bit of a pain, is the instructions! They are nicely drawn, but they don't follow any logical progression for instance here - stage 19 you make 2 of these.....................
In stage 20, you add these to the hull
Aside from the fact that Bronco said one assembly was 17 ( in fact a headlight ), why would you assemble in that order? It's more logical to add the Ba40s to the hull, then add the handles, Ba29 after. There are other examples of build sequences that are poor, it looks like the artist had no real idea of how to build the model. You have to look ahead in the build stages, to make sure you're not making difficulties for yourself!

Trumpeter (that has the same parent company as Bronco) is much the same, I found with my recent Rooikat: they would, for example, have you complete the upper and lower hulls separately before joining them. Sane people put the top and bottom hull pieces together first, then stick all the details on, for no other reason than to avoid breaking many of the small bits off again. In retrospect it would probably also have been simpler to put the suspension arms onto the hull and then put the springs in, rather than add the springs to the arms before glueing the assemblies to the hull. I agree it looks like whoever designed the instructions doesn’t have much hands-on experience building model kits.
Just caught up with this one Dave , great start . There’s an awful lot of pieces there ! My one experience of Bronco kits was very positive , the detail was excellent as here and their finesse in moulding tiny little pieces is extraordinary . Cheers tony

can't fault the mouldings, or fit, so far - I've got some PE to add to the upper hull, I hope that fits well, and my CA has a sticky day!

Well, another hour or two, adding bits mostly PE, which I always have a tussle with - but I think I'm over the major bits, at least with the upper hull. I seem to add more & more to this for no apparent result!
There are a few grab handles to add, and I'm leaving off all the tools, and the exhaust shield until after painting. Been a good day - the CA worked, and I didn't stick myself to any parts at all - must be a first for me!

A bit more work headlamps & rear doors assembled
Headlamps - only 4 parts each - those doors? 10 parts each! ( and yes, those strips need some clean up ) I can honestly say over engineered!
