Anyway back to the build and a little more done including moving the drivers arm, got it as best as I can now. Unfortunately whilst doing this I snapped the end of the front bren clean off. thirty minutes later found it but the observant among you will see my attempt at re attaching it was a little off !!! Also found the chap mentioned earlier doing a random pointy finger.

Looks pretty good, and no, I can't see the join!
Don't forget to give the carrier a bit of weight by setting it into the ground, though I imagine grassing the base will do that well enough. Base looks nice so far too

Speaking of weight on the ground, have to say that when you look at carriers in service, the amount of kit piled up on them is astonishing. There was a 1/35th equipment set put out a few years ago which looked like enough gear for three vehicles. Then I saw a photo one carrier going across Pegasus Bridge and you have to marvel at the toughness of the suspension.
So, that muddy little stream? 'We took everything off first, sergeant!'

Hi Chris, lots of bits still to load on and you're right when grass etc added it should be sitting lower. Done my best with drivers arm but it still looks a poor position unless he's going to spin the wheel left or has just spun right.

Base was a section of cobbles so def a work in progress.

Hi All, latest progress, still got more work to do on base, decals and aerials, then want to have a go at dirt/mud. Should be fun.

Looks good Nick .

Don't add to much mud as the base looks dry, maybe more of a dried mud on the body of the hull and dust around the lower section of the armour suspension and the wheels.
Plenty of good Y Tube videos to help.

Thanks John and yes you're right it does look quite dry.
I'll check out the videos, do you use special dusts or pencils for this I wonder.

Thanks Tim, a little more progress, just the aerials and some dust/mud to go then I will be calling this one done. It has certainly been a challenge and will probably be the last 1/48 I will do. The etch also proved difficult but I do like the detail you get from it, again just too small for ageing eyes, even with magnification.

Looks pretty damn good I'd say.
One thing struck me though, looking at your terrain, it looks like they're on exercise in Northern Ireland!

And I've just noticed the flattened strips on the bank where the carrier came down. Nice.

Hi Chris,
Thanks again - I'm calling this one finished now - lots learned along the way and enjoyed it (most of the time).
Aerials fitted (first ever go at stretching sprue) the shorter of the two seemed to work better than the first attempt.
Also first attempt at adding some mud (sorry John I know we agreed it was dry so dust but waiting delivery of dust) made with bicarb and paints.

Hi John, thanks for the thumbs up, not to your standard but turned out ok for me.
Gerry, yes arm sorted but still in a strange position, left the other chap off all together, he just didn't seem right at all.

Yup
The mud is fine, as it's just come down the wet bank that's draining into the burn, or bec, or whatever they call those little ditches
