In my endeavours to get the stash down and not buy anything new, I've finished another one. The Fujimi 1/72 Vought A-7D Corsair II, a kit that hails from the late 1980s. The only non OOB additions are nose wheel well structure added using plastic card and Tamiya tape belts for the seat. I used exclusively Mig Ammo paints, varnishes and washes on this one, using AK masking putty. The nose intake was a real pig, I lined it with thin card, filled and sanded the edges to blend them in. Decals were very good, thin and bedded down nicely even after sitting in a box for 30+ years.

A-7D, Louisiana ANG, 23rd TFW/74th TFS ‘Flying Tigers’, c1977

YES very nice work indeed but i was wondering why the rear wheels eanr'nt painted white or is it how it was on the real plane ?

Cracking job. That’s so sharp it’ll cut itself…..
Thanks Tim, I enjoyed building it

A great build Joe nice decals and Camo.
Cheers Vaughan. I too like the USAF South East Asia scheme. Today's greys can be rather plain and boring

Great finish on the model
Thank you Mick

Thanks Chris. Here are two reference photos I used. The main wheels started life as white and got filthy with time to the point they appear black. I just went with black.

Thank you Tony. I like it in this scheme, the later grey or grey/green is too dark for my liking. The photos are taken on my cellphone, I've got a white cake turntable I use against a pale wall with lights on. Seems to work well except when the models become too large for the turntable :thumb2:

Looks good in SEAC colours.
Cheers Rick, glad you like the scheme I chose for it.

HI Joe yes i see what you mean about the rear wheels not bein white but are black from dirt but you would think as they got to service the wheels for brakes an such they would just wipe off the dirt an to me i think your model looks more real than the real plane maybe because your model has more sharper colours an the real plane is wheathered but this is a plane ive never seen in real life an ive seen them on carrier decks but never in camo but i think you have done that very well indeed
ATB chris

What a wee beastie that is Joe - love the cam, cracking result Guv!

I'm with all the above remarks a beauty, bet its quite a chunker even in 72nd. Dave
Cheers David. It's about the same size as the F-117 Nighthawk.
