Hi guys in progress my 10 th scratchbuilt and 15 th railgun in my collection , this is a model of the German Theodor Kanone (E).
Three of these were built using plans of w w 1 mountings and barrels from pre-dreadnoughts they were built in 1936 and in service 1937 to 1945,two guns were used during the French campaign.
I have had a number of guys ask for a rundown of the builds so have included a few photos during build, the barrel is turned in aluminium and the wheels are from oo gauge railway stock ...will be glad to answer any other questions on build.
Model is now waiting for primer before adding figures and a base.

That’s great scratchbuilding Baz, nicely done. Very interesting subject as well. Can I ask why you extended the axles on the wheelsets and also ask if this is a static model or destined for a layout?

Agree with Tim on the scratchery, looks like a expensive produced one !
Out of interest what glue do you use please Baz ?

Thanks Tim
The wheels are from 00 railway stock so needed to be extended to fit 1 72 scale tracks and will be static and on a diorama as all my others.

I was imagining a whole different type of railgun when I opened this thread, but that looks very nice indeed.

Hi Baz
Thanks for that. I asked because just in case you aren’t aware, wheels of the correct spacing and flange depth are available, sold as P4 gauge. They are designed for correctly scaled 1/76.2 models and made to fit 18.83mm standard gauge track. Normal “OO” wheels are really designed to fit 1/87 scale 16.5mm gauge HO track, which is why OO model railways look wasp waisted head on, and why you needed to extend them.
