54mm Charge of the Scots Greys

Now the Daemon is slain you'll be painting regiments of Highlanders in no time.......

And very nice it is too. A bit of a triumph this one. Well done Neil.

Oooh thank you ,gentlemen!
It was a bit of an epic, but I'm so glad I did the practice runs first.
I can also vouch for Boatman Chris's technique of clapping when your hands get shaky!

Another little update.
I don't really like showing WIP shots of my painting, and also I just don't think to take them, but this was how he looked when I finished last night , so I thought I would report in.
I thought I was done with little squares , but Oh No......

and then there was the bonnet.
Thanks go to whoever recommended using VJ ivory for white- I like it as a more realistic white for the natural fibres of the time. I've kept with normal white for the leather, as it would have been pipeclayed.
There's still some touching up to do, but with luck I might finish the painting today
thanks for looking
Neil

Lovely work on the Tartan Neil :smiling3:.
I remember doing an article on how to paint Tartan for Military Modelcraft International in the late 90's.

tartan superbly executed.. can't wait to see moore :smiling2: :smiling2: :smiling2:

Looks good. I always forget the diced bands on the hat and the stockings....Getting them right is as hard as the tartan....I’ve thought about doing highlanders several times in 28mmm and that’s where it stops LOL.....
