I thought I'd start this thread and post a few of the pictures taken by myself and SWMBO at Duxford. It won't be that many unless you want to see pictures of the sky, maybe with a tail plane disappearing out of one side, or pictures of the sky with barely discernible objects that might be aircraft in one corner !

I started on terra firma with a walk down the flight line. A Spitfire fans idea of Nirvana, all under beautiful summer skies :) .

More, not Spitfires, to come.

Cheers

Steve

Looks like you got nice and close to the Spitfires.I was too tight to pay the £5 flight line pass!.

Looks great Steve, look forward to seeing more.

It's a fiver well spent. I'm always looking to kill time profitably before the flying starts and I've been around the museums many times.

A few more from the flight line. Evidence of one of the two heavy showers we had, luckily before the flying started. All of these flew later.

You can play the what is it game, though they are not exactly difficult :)

Err...now I understand why you take the photos so far....is my? Or there is a man with a gunmachine?

Re-enactors Polux. An odd bunch but they do take it very seriously and invest a lot of time and money in getting everything as authentic as possible. They give their time for free to add a touch of period authenticity, as the 'paratrooper' posing with the L4.

All of those flew on Saturday exept for the Lysander. The Lufthansa JU52 was on the program but didn't turn up on Saturday. Was it there today Steve?.

So, just like us then?

Awesome photos Steve, thanks for posting them, it must have been a very good day out.

Great shots Steve. Had much the same line up of Spits at Biggin Hill 4 years ago. The American fighters look great too, A clutch of Mustangs to rival the Spits for cool.

Cheers

Ps. You should see the war re enactors at the War & Peace show - full on battles with some great vehicles.

Yes, pretty much. Certainly their attention to detail is admirable, though one of the ladies yesterday did have on a pair of shoes identified by SWMBO as coming from Hobbs and not being strictly authentic. They looked fine to me!

I usually have a quick chat with the odd re-enactor. I think it was at Duxford a few years ago that there were a bunch of guys representing a B-17 crew. They had all the kit, heated suits, survival gear, parachutes, you name it. I asked one how much his gear had cost and he replied 'thousands', which makes building models seem like a very cheap option :)

Here's a few more pictures.

Cheers

Steve

Some great shots despite the rain will have to make the effort to get there one day, I have no excuses as I'm just over an hour away. I don't know wether you belong to the Sally B supporters Club for £40 you get free admission to Duxford for the year and exclusive access to Sally B http://www.sallyb.org.uk/index.htm By the way what camera were you using?

Camera? Errr SWMBO's little compact thingy. I think it's a Sony something or the other :)

As you can tell I'm not a photographer!

Steve

Wonderful piccies Steve, I cannot build an aircraft for toffee-but I love looking at them and admiring real and models.
