A Problem on the Ponte Rivetto Contatore...Fusilli, Italy 1944

Looking the business Ron.

You're ability to come up with these ideas in the first place, then execute them so well, has me gobsmacked every time!

Andy, it's down to the medication that Matron has prescribed, mind altering drugs have these sort of effects, in this case it's a brilliant thought process and application.

Thanks for the kind words, Andrew, Andy and Mr. Race.

Thanks a bundle, Sid!
That was strictly between you, me and Matron......

Now I've nearly sorted the main construction of two river crossings, I've started to add a bit of detail.

A couple of stone steps made from scrap foam board. I had intended to make either side of the walkway identical, but the wife suggested a bit of variation would do no harm.

So blame her.......

Still a bit of work to do, but the basics are laid down.....

Once completed, I can then go to town on painting and aging things, as right now the stone is way too squeaky clean and regimental. Then I can think about wrecking it! :hungry:

Yours,

Found some pics from my Europe Holiday of the remains of a Roman acquaduct southeast of Metz. This one brought snow melt from the hills to the villages south. They built to last. Some damage in the last pic near Dornot where a large WWII battle was fought. PaulE

Informative pictures, Paul. Thanks for taking the time to post them.

Apart from adding a pattern and texture to the paved areas, this is probably, might be, could be the final bits of stonework added to the model.

Steps down to the picnic area....

A general view.

I've cut off the two road bridge surface tabs and snuggled the whole thing between the riverside wall upstands.

The cardboard, top and side is not stuck around the model, it's just lying on the work surface.

Next, I need to do some work on the river banks, then start to apply some paint.

Cheers and thanks for sticking with the build.

Thanks for the most excellent comments chaps. All very well received. :smiling4:

I had intended to attack the river bank, but ended up tackling the old stone riverside promenades.
I used to same method I've used for quite some time now- paint brush ferrules. The pattern came out of my nut! I've tried for a rough, well worn, been there for ever, sort of look.

I've decided on a warm beige colour rather than grey, for the stonework.

Rough, initial painting done with cheap, poundshop acrylics.

The sad thing is, I envisage a lot of it will be hidden by rubble. But it had to be done.

The white bits on the paved area are where the buildings will eventually go.

I still have to face doing the other side of the river - Once my eyes get back to normal!

Cheers all and thanks for looking in.
