I'm in with this. I was really tempted to go the Sunderland route with some others, but then remembered, I had this. I can't remember when I bought it, but, it's new tool Airfix and looks really good, nice fine detail and a rather clever way of ensuring correct wing dihedral. Also, if you are building with the wings folded, Airfix supply a jig for correct alignment.

Actually it looks more at home on floats. Not realised that there was such a machine.

Its a superb kit by all accounts Colin, the interior detail is very comprehensive. Very nice choice of subject , cant wait to see the build , cheers tony

And we're off. Well it's a wet bank holiday, what where they made for ?

Laurie, rigging, well this thing uses solid bars for rigging. So, poetic license on the way. Even in this small scale, the wings are made of two halves. I'm sure I can use this to my advantage for the rigging, don't know how yet, but the answer is there somewhere.

Tony, detail, yes lots of it. Infact it rivals many 1:48 kits in the detail department.

That maybe the reason why Joe, the starting point. Plus the fact I like an excuse to get the enamels out once in a while. Vallejo might do an equivalent, but I'm not looking too hard to find it.

So, a little bit of work has been done. Now I've started chopping bits off and sticking them together, I'm glad to say this kit is as good as I thought. Airfix have done a really nice job with it.

Humbrol 78 for the interior, then masked ready to replicate the red primer (applied before doping), as seen from inside.

For a 1:72 model, the interior is quite well detailed. Of course most will be lost when the fuse' is closed - but we modelers know it's in there, somewhere........

Thanks for the comments gentlemen. Did I mention how good this kit is ? Well, you know how we often have to drill the exhaust out just to make it a bit more realistic. Not needed here, Airfix have done it for you, remember this is 1:72.

I'm looking ahead to the rigging now Dave (before I put the wings together) The Swordfish appears to use nice big thick bars, not wire like my DH2, so I think I'll go back to using EZ line, which is already black - bonus. Eight halves make up the four wings, so I'm nearly sure I can 'trap' the rigging inside somehow.
