Amusing Hobby 1/35 E-100 German 'Super Tank'

Greeting's 570 .
Always great and amazing when you find a kit that is as well produced as that.
The PAK 44 I'm doing is in the same leaque. Were the instruction and parts numbering as good as the kit ?
Plastic tracks have always been something I fail with, how on earth Si Benson can build them up and remove all the track and wheels is beyond me.
The only tracks that Race Towers can use are those metal things that you deride !:smiling3::cold-sweat:
You didn't see my posting about a shed paint that was equal to 4BO did you ?
Thought you would approve , just think of how many kits I could paint with one can :nerd:

Thanks chaps.

453, sorry old lad, I missed the shed paint bit. - That's my boy! In your case, or your good lady's, think garden stuff tokens..... :thumb2:

The instructions are as good as the model. Superbly drawn, and clear step by step, A.B.C. in explanation.

Turret completed. Bom, bom, bom.....Done!

No frills, this thing would have been just a cumbersome fortress on tracks - and just as useless!

Excellent castings

Great turret ring detail. It's the usual 'Slot and Turn' securing method, so this delightful bit of engineering is not required and not even seen. But does it look nice?

Just read through this one mate , it’s looking very tasty . The moulding and engineering on this kit look superb , even I got a bit drooly over the weld seams and casting texture , do they do aircraft ?!

edit: yes they do , but it’s just the ridiculous focke wulf triebflugel project thing , loads of tanky stuff though

Yo matey, thanks for the positive post.

I had a look on eBay last night at Amusing Hobby, and it looks like they only do armour and artillery. I haven't gone into it in depth as the kits are far, far too expensive for my pocket.

I just noticed now that this is a different version of the turret than the Dragon kit of ±25 years ago. That one has the 7.5 cm gun to the side of the 12.8 cm rather than above it, and doesn’t come with the rangefinder (the beam across the turret roof).

Cheers 453.
There's a lot of serious thinking gone into this kit. Even the box is tough cardboard!

Nothing like "Durable" goods! Pulled out my 1/87 scale E-100....it also has the old style turret. Not seen this configuration before. Very interesting 570. Rick H.

BIG changes!
Last night I was brushing on a coat of Dk. Yellow ready to apply the 'Discs' when the wife came into my den to inspect the progress.

She opened with..
"I thought Tom wanted his tank German grey?"

I agreed he did, but added he was going to allow me to paint a 'disc' camouflage on the tank, then I would take a few pictures and re- paint it grey.

She retorted "Ridiculous, what a waste of your time and effort!"

...and do you know, as usual, she was dead right. The exercise would have been a waste of a good few hours of eye splitting work. I've done this camo style a few times on here, so it's not as though it's new to me.

So I've decided to scotch the plan and re- paint it in German Grey (Yes, I know, what a looser!)..... BUT, the wife is pleased and I've earned leisure points, so all is good.

So, say by-by to the yeller!

Don’t you just hate it when wives are logical! They’re difficult to argue with anyway, but it’s impossible when they’re right!

Thing is boys, and my hands tremble as I write it........

After 50 odd years of marriage, I simply know when I'm beateded, 'specially when for once, and I have to admit it publicly, she is without doubt quite right!

Anyway, after an hour in the den with my beloved 'Yard brush', I've given the beast a coat of Vallejo 'Air' German Grey. Luckily, I've managed to get a satisfactory and sufficient covering over the yellow with just one coat.

A couple of decals and some slight weathering are all that's left to do. (As per the boy's instructions)

Cheers.
