Ok, so after 3 weeks of faffing I'm calling the nose finished. It shouldn't have taken that long but I've had very little bench time, plus I had to wait for it to arrive from the US.
Without going into the whys wherefores, I have come to the conclusion that the the front of the Tamiya Mossie is slightly too curved to achieve both the nice straight join on the top
and the rounded nose.....if you follow the lines it would be too short
and come to a point. Not sure if that's a kit issue or the Mk XIII had slightly taller access hatches than a Mk VI.
So the bottom line is it's not a perfect match for LP but it's closer than the AM part as supplied.
Getting it perfectly balanced on each side was tricky and whilst it looks
very slightly off under close scrutiny using an optivisor, it should pass muster at even fairly close distance with a Mk I eyeball. It's interesting how even a slight angle change or a shadow gives rise to a seeming change in its shape.
Thanks for your support on this part of the journey and now I can finally crack on with the rest of it!
