Hi all

So big news from my house!!!! As the kids are 'off' for Easter and my wife had the afternoon off she decided to do a kit with Junior providing instruction!!
shocked.png

I pulled this out of the stash for her as it was pretty simple. My modelling club gave it to Junior as a freebie after they were given it at a show.

It was released in in 2017 with an accompanying magazine in English and German, RRP around £10, giving quite a lot of background, as well as profiles of two Panzer commanders. The concept was great but the execution was AWFUL!! I think they literally just stuck the German into Google Translate and pressed enter, as some of it is virtually unintelligible, which is a real shame.

The kit itself wasn't bad at all. Nicely moulded, no flash and a surprising amount of detail. The instructions were ok although more once than I heard comments to the effect of "Where am I supposed to put this??" - quite refreshing!!

She finished the initial build in one day, and aside from one or two bits that need trimming (she apparently likes the rough and ready look!), it's ready for priming.

Pics below as usual.

ACW as usual!

As you can just about see I actually had her looking at the IPMS US website to try and work out an unclear part of the instructions!!

I wish I had a Man Cave to be renamed!! :disappointed2: A table in the corner of our kitchen doubles as my modelling table and working from home desk!

I'll pass on your comments to my wife.

Thanks for stopping by.

Congratulations to your wife, and thank Junior for leading the way.
Now remember that treasured kit that you are going to build one day, you know, the one you drooled over, the one you caress every time you look at it - hide it!!!

Hi Andrew
A great result from the family cooperation. Time spent together is special and helps to get through these sureal times. I like the tracks and wheels cast together at this scale.

Thanks guys very much for the support, it is appreciated and I've made sure my wife has seen your comments.

Mike, Chris - Thanks for the warning about the kit - or kits as it is in my case. Specifically, two 1/72 Eduard Profipack Messerschmidt 110s, an E and a G4. I'll keep my eyes peeled! I'll also make sure Junior sees the comments, it was 'interesting' to hear so much of what I've taught him being repeated to my wife, right down even to the phrasing!! :surprised:

Jim - It was interesting to watch and there were a couple of times I had to help, so it was a real family effort in these very surreal times. I agree with you too about the single cast tracks and wheels, so much better than individually. The other alternatively I really like is tracks that come in two sections so you can get a clear run at the tracks independently of the wheels.

Thanks again guys and stay safe.

So the "Man Cave" is now the "Persons Shelter"? How quaint...and might I add what a talent the "missus" has for yours and junior's interests. You and junior are lucky indeed to have his mum so involved.:thumb2: Looking forward to the wet stuff. Rick H.

Andrew - might want to sand off that sprue attachment from the side of the gun barrel before it gets to paint ;)

Simon

Don't worry, I've discretely attacked it already. My wife is seemingly a lover of the "rough and ready" look!

Thanks for stopping by.

Rick

My 'man cave' is actually a corner of the kitchen, so it's already a shared space!! :D

Thanks for stopping by and I'll make sure she sees your comments!

Hi all

So my wife's first ever attempt at using an AB and I have to say once she got over the nerves she displayed very good technique.

Her trigger action in particular was very nice and controlled and soooooooo much better than my ham-fisted efforts when I first picked up and AB.

I think I had better watch out!!
