If you leave the resin level where it is, the periscope bend isn't as noticeable. You could say it's a water refraction effect?

Took more layers than I thought, I originally planned on about four layers, but I think I've done seven or eight layers now. Obviously you don't want to go too thick with the resin layers as it can then not set properly. Apparently you can buy special "deep pour" resin, but thats not what I'm using here.

Looking very neat. To create a wave effect I would suggest that you use a layer of Modpodge on top of the resin and use an air brush to push it around into wavey shapes. Just use the airbrush empty and allow the simple airflow to create the waves.

Its nearly set, but still a bit pliable, so I got the pallette knife out and pushed a few wavelets into the surface, and tried to simulate a small wake behind the periscope.
Once its all set, etc I may touch up the tops of the wavelets with some white tips.

Looking great and if anyone asks about the periscope, just tell them the Sub didn't dive quick enough and it rubbed along the hull of a corvette.

Hi John. Would this work with Hydracal plaster?

If that's water-based, I'd expect that a vacuum chamber would evaporate some of the water.
