Now then, things are moving on, just a bit.
Unfortunately, the rail type thing (I think it’s some sort of antenna) is wrong for this early version of Chinook. A bit of work will be needed here. Another problem is shown below. That open section between the engines should be closed up, this modification appeared on later versions.

Colin, I served in a unit that specialised in under slung loads and have flown in BN in afghan and in the uk.
BN actually has 2 DFCs they are on a plaque behind the cockpit and I once spoke to a founding member of my unit which started in the Falklands and he told me it carried over 80 passengers on board in one lift

Bought a mask set? Wow, if I'd known such things existed in my early days of pursuing the Ladies I'd have saved myself a whole shed load of visual grief ... ! (Only joking - they were all 'beautiful' - and I still have a great relationship, even now, with Specsavers!)

The lower part of that fairing was known as “the bog seat” and the top part called “the Bentley bonnet”. I’m sure they had a more formal description but that’s what we Lineys called them on 230 Sqn.
It is an amazing aircraft Martyn, and you've been up and close with her ! I think the DFC count is up to four now.
I shudder to think what the bit I need, is called.
Moving on with the modifications I’ve realised need doing.
I replaced the antenna ‘thing’ with something a bit more in scale.
Filling the hole is a bit more involved. It’s quite a complex curve, so I’ve been using bits of plastic card melted into place with TET, then filing it all down before a skim of filler.

I seem to have missed a bit. You have made excellent progress. Canopy masking looks neat. Good luck filling the hole between the engines - I imagine it will be a case of fill and sand, fill and sand, repeat til done :tongue-out3:

Exactly. For a for days now I've been thinking time for primer, then something else catches my eye, and then something else. But not tonight. Tonight is primer night.
At last, primer, here we go.
A nice shade of black. Shall we leave it there and call it ‘Special ops’

As if primer wasn't enough, I've reached for the paint as well. Dark sea grey applied and masked ready for Dark green.

Decals done. Well sort of. I’ve raided the spare decals and used a few kit ones to get to this point.
