Done. The ugly duckling is finished. So there were a few problems at the end. Kleer appears to have leached through my canopy masking, leaving quite a rough edge. This didn't happen on my last build, but I didn't use Kleer, that was Humbrol gloss coat.

Also, I put a drop of grey in the matt coat, I've done this before with no problem, this time it didn't mix very well, hence some grey drops all over the model. I'm beginning to tire of Vallejo playing up, it might be time to find an alternative. A point to note, the Sky and EDSG were good old Humbrol enamels, and worked lovely.

So, ignoring my errors, the model itself was very nice. Good detail and fit along with decals that behaved themselves.

That's it. The second build of 2015 done. To clear the stash I think that leaves 5 more to do.

Colin, this aircraft looks magnificent!!

Nice paintwork, almost for me...

Great build!

Lovely work Colin. All those issues ironed out, a nice finish is the result. And it isn't a tail-sitter either :)

Very nice indeed Colin theres no sign of any troubles you had with this build looks a bigger kit than 1/72

You moan, I would be ecstatic if anything I made came out looking like that! I think it looks superb mate.

Si:)

Superb job colin , a fantastic build , cheers tony

I agree with everything that's been said! A lovely clean build that looks bigger than any 1/72 kit has a right to ;)

Great build Colin.Ive had a few problems with Vallejo myself and have gone back to enamels.

Lovely build of a great subject, Colin. I think the problems you experienced will only be visible to you!

It's very nearly the same size as my 1:48 Airfix Seafire. It seems the Gannet was quite a big aircraft, hence the double folding wings I suppose.

No it isn't, but it's flippn' heavy. I'll need to source some more lead after this build.

I want to stick with acrylics, but might try a different brand. However for me some paints will always be Humbrol enamel, namely H90 and H78 - nothing else will do for me !

Well I've got about 5 more to do before the end of the year. So what's next, another very old 1:24, or a nice little new 1:72...............................?

Colin M..

That's one weird looking aircraft but he'll you've made it look quality the weathering is spot on

Yoicks 1/72 thought it 1/48 until a read a reply.

Great job. very nice shading and effects. Very nice setting and photography. Also like the aircraft a change form the usual run.
