Scale Model Shop

Comet-ed

Sorry I haven’t commented before Andy, this seems to have missed me completely……
It’s coming together really well mate. Finish on the models is up to your usual excellence and the figures are looking good as well. Nice to see some of them smiling…..…

Thanks Tim. Good to have you looking in.

And yes, the expressions are very fortunate given their intended part in the scene - looking on and possibly mocking the stricken tankers.

The guy standing up looks like he’s smoking……..food for thought perhaps.

Indeed Tim.

The box art shows him with a moustache too, giving him a Leslie Phillips look!

We'll it's been a rough week at home & work. Stress and anxiety levels are off the scale so I haven't been able to face much modelling.

I've managed a few bits but they haven't gone exactly to plan as my head just isn't in it at the moment. Nothing that can't be fixed though so I'll keep plodding away until the mojo comes back properly :smiling3:

Second tank got painted (déjà vu). I've gone for a bit more contrast on this but it's still a bit subtle for the camera.

I also forgot to sort the stowage out first so there may be some touch ups to do later once I've chopped raised details off to get it to fit nicely.

Decals have silvered a bit on this one too, but nothing I can't hide.

First tank has had a bit more work. I've pinwashed it 3 times (always my nemesis) and still wasn't happy so I broke out the Ammo shaders from the back of a drawer and have been playing with those.

Still not exactly what I was looking for but I should be able to adjust things once I start the proper weathering.

And I couldn't get the rowing figure to my liking so I've bit the bullet and bought one. I've started to paint him but there's still a way to go.

Hopefully events will work themselves out soon and I'll be able to crack back on with gusto.

I'm not sure it counts as my first floaty thing :smiling5: but the boat is pretty much finished. I think he needs a fishing rod and some tackle though.

The stricken Comet has been given a coat of satin varnish to seal in the decals and I've put another two figures together.

Just had a read through Andy and I'm very impressed with what you have accomplished so far. The Universal came out the Bomb....love that dirty running gear! Keep it coming Sir. :thumb2:

Love the little boat and the rower. It will really add extra interest and colour. Two more figures to paint :thumb2:

Thanks Rick & Jim.

There's still at least one more figure to add, probably two. The longer I can spend faffing with extras the longer I can put off starting on the base itself :smiling5:

Just had a great few minutes catching up on this one Andy :)
Old Mr. Redgrave looks great there and the "scuffing" of his boat's plankwork is perfect ;)
Those Tankie figures are excellently detailed and will look the business once painted....gotta say though,my eyes keep getting drawn to the paint job you've done on the Tank's deck....that really is gorgeous ;)
Going to be some Dio this mefinks!!

Why thank you Andy, very much appreciated!

Just for you I'll try not to hide too much of the deck under stowage then :smiling5:

A couple more lambs for the slaughter.

All primed up and will give them another check over before proceeding to paint. Their boots have proved the trickiest to clean up, I can maybe see some mud in the future...

I doubt the painting will get started today though as we're fast approaching 30°C in the shed so may relocate to the house and do them in the evenings.

For someone that's not great at diorama figures, 10 is pushing it a bit! :smiling5:

I keep forgetting to paint the mantlet covers so I've rectified that. I'm not sure if the colour is correct but as always I'm not particularly bothered. I am quite happy with the effect though.
