This is from the Trumpeter kit. I can't comment on the accuracy but it's a nice kit which goes together well. The wing fold join is not strong enough and a proper fiddle to get made. If I built this kit again this is the only thing I would modify.

Anyway, here's a virtual walk around of a Corsair of VF-84 aboard the USS Bunker Hill in early 1945.

Cheers

Steve

Looks great! Can't tell you had difficulty with wings. I'm looking to get a 1:24 scale corsair so glad to know wing join May be tricky!

Lovely model Steve, as expected from you. Enhanced by the board and the background making the pictures just amazing.

Great build, Steve!! It's a stunning Corsair, well done, mate!!

And I'm glad that the kit goes together well, 'cause I have it in my kit-depot, too!! ;)

Superb aircraft Steve. And a great bonus displaying it as you have. Really finishes the build off.

It's been a pleasure watching it all come to fruition.

Saw this earlier today on my smartphone but just had to see it on the laptop to get the best out of the photos!

A great result Steve and your in-pronto carrier deck turned out rather good as well!

For a single colour scheme it has great depth and the sheen on it is great.

The Markings on the wings had me confused a bit at first. I thought you had done two at first. lol.

I still think it most helpful that they painted arrows to show the pilot the direction he should be flying and which way up it should be. I assume that they were unit markings.

Great Job.

Very nice Steve! I read your thread on it and I must admit after that I am weary to start mine now lol.

Fantastic work Steve , a quality build and great base and photography too. The only drawback is its making me want to build a big scale corsair and my stash is big enough!! , Great build , cheers tony

That is a fabulous result Steve. I second everything that has been said so far. Your builds are always flawless and this is no exception, but I think there's a real subtle depth to this that comes with restrained and very thoughtful weathering and treatment. The carrier deck looks fabulous too. And, like Tony you're making me want to build one! Superb.

Cheers, Paul

Thanks chaps!

The 'deck' is actually the back of one of my other bases sprayed 'supersonic blue' from Honda with a LOT of pencil lines and a bit of sharpie every twelve 'planks' to vaguely represent the tie down strips. The white lines are sprayed...the easy bit. It took me a while to mark up so I may have to make some more USN carrier aircraft to go on it :)

Ian, the arrows were unit markings but I don't really know how the USN operated it's aircraft. I assume that all the aircraft comprising Bunker Hill's air wing would have been marked this way.

The 'Sea Blue' on the aeroplane is from Modelmaster and very nice it is too. It's the first time I've used this brand and I was more than happy with it. My favourite White Ensign also do this colour, confusingly called 'Aircraft Sea Blue', and I sprayed the drop tank with theirs just to see how the two compared. The WEM Colourcoat is as near as anything identical to Modelmaster's, so I suppose both companies have made a good job of it!

Cheers

Great build Steve. Enjoyed watching this one come together, it is nice to see a large scale Corsair built.

Very nice pristine finish Steve.

Also like your photos very much set against a very nice background to give character to the machine.

I do not think I have the character to produce such a model with perfect finishes but it is interesting to see others produce such works. Ah !

Also interested Steve to find out how you produced the endings or connections on the aerial rigging. Looks very authentic. Just these details which can make a model look stand apart.

great build Steve, what else can be said, :D , and the back drop and deck just top it off very well done like it :)
