Hi guys,

Been a few weeks since I was last on. This started innocently enough as I was in Cyprus for the middle two weeks of August.

5 days after returning to Blighty my appendix then decided to explode rather dramatically, leading to a trip to A&E in an Ambulance (a first for me), some emergency surgery and then a week's stay on the ward as they fought to get the infection under control. I felt like a pin cushion by the time I finally got home, I reckon I had had over 50 needles in me during my enforced stay.

I've been home 3 weeks now, but not allowed to lift anything or do anything which has been frustrating. The pain is a lot better now, currently it feels like I have been kicked in the guts, which is a definite improvement. :D

Hoping to get back to the bench soon, before I go completely stir crazy.

Cheers,

B

A horrible experience but glad you're through it and on the mend. Look after yourself.

Glad you're getting better mate,
My appendix 'blew' way back in 1996, Funny thing is that I didn't have any pain whatso ever, I just felt really ill really quickly one morning at work, ended up nearly ending me due to the rupture taking out over 10cm of my lower intestine /bowel and as such causing a rather nasty case of sepsis..
Take it easy and don't try sitting up too quickly..(ask me how I know...lol)

Cheers Langy.

Sepsis was the concern, but they changed me up to some "mega-strong" antibiotics which finally put paid to the infection.

Trying to get out of the hospital bed was fun, had to plan each movement in advance in order to avoid pulling. You don't notice how much your abdomen does until it's been sliced open. :D

The small mercy is that it happened back here, and not abroad. Thank heavens you are back on the mend, albeit slowly.

Best stick to the 1/72 or 1/144 kits, lightweight tweezers, no AB, and hairy stick only!

Neil, I had the same thought, or even worse if it had of happened on the flight home.

Glad you've pulled through mate. Take it easy and try not to get too frustrated if you can't immediately get back to Pilates ...
