I've finished the cockpit, I used the original kit instrument panel and modified the PE to fill in the spaces sure it looks nothing like the prototype, but that's not the goal I'm trying to reach.20220715_130931.jpg20220715_131238.jpg

Hey all sorry about the dead air yesterday, I had to work. (Pizza maker by profession). Anyway I got back on the Viper today, installed the cockpit closed up the fuselage and did basic airframe assembly. I didn't use all of the Eduard PE and left off the stiffener plates as the 527th Vipers didn't have them. I also assembled the reskit engine and it looks great. Because of the engine's length (see photo) I had to cut the entire rear of the fuselage out which was fun and stressful at the same time it looks the part and is that little something extra that I really like about this project.20220717_152014.jpg20220717_152002.jpg20220717_151950.jpg20220717_151927.jpg

A-Ha! "Mom look what I found on the British Forum, can I keep it?"

Nice progress gavinn , its good fun bashing these old kits up to modern standards isnt it , I love tackling an older kit . In fact I did the same thing as you are doing now but with the Revell 1/48 F 16 , a different tooling to this but still an old timer that needed a bit of help ( it was the ‘ air team ‘ -ie. Thunderbirds -, boxing but the tooling dates from 1976) Cheers tony

Wonderful, we gotta keep these old timers relevant, throwing some paint and glue into a box and shaking it Tamiya style would get boring real quick if we didn't.

Nice work so far Gav.
I have edited your post to show the full image insted of the thumbnails.
