I concur. I discovered how bad they can get when I leant on the inner wing of my old escort, my hand went straight through it lol

As a side point. Would the wheel arch extensions be made of metal back then, or fiberglass?

Looks great so far though. How did you get the paint cracking affect?
Good point on the wheel arch could of made an error there , and the paint cracking is done with worn affects by mig and I think it’s called crackel by

Vallejo , thanks for your feedback appreciate it

No, make it look like mud.

Or cut one off and re-attach it making it look like it's falling off.

I sold my MK2 to a scrappy and last time I saw it it had chickens living in it,if you're looking for any more inspiration..

And you've seen the price of even standard 2 door shells these days ! I best I ever managed was a Mk2 Rs2000 X-pack, and I sold that before the prices rocketed.....

Mine was just a standard 4 door, originally in terracotta but had been hand painted black.. I wish I'd kept it and fixed it up but my trainee money didn't go very far!

Hi Stuart,
As a kid my mates dad had the MkII RS2000...went like stink but was only driven at the weekends.
I’m mostly a military modeller but built Tamiya’s WRX ( owned the 1:1 scale version too) .
Look forward to seeing how this develops
Cheers
Si

Hi Stuart
As a refugee from the defunct Military Modelling forum very few cars were built on that forum. A rusty barn find is a great idea and progress to date looks good. The wheel arches look very realistic.
Jim

Was my first car...no doubt a bunch of us had the same cars and terrorised the town in it. Those were the days. Managed to get double the price I bought it for when I sold it.

The barn look is looking nice but sad for a Pininfarina designed car.

Cheers,
Richard

Good start to this......love the Carlos fandango wide wheels add-ons as well....
Cheers
Tim

That's looking great, I personally love weathered cars (although I've got a lot of stick for it (Not on here I hasten to add)) keep at it, it's looking bloomin good

Great idea and build I wish I still had my Mkll 1600 sport bringing back some great memories.

Cheers Richard, yeah wish I had one now would be worth a mint but this is as close as I could get to one

good start Stuart. I like the rust effect so far, even if not yet completed. I also like the bumpy effect of the paint. How did you achieve that?
